Interviews: OPTICAL SUN

We have had the opportunity to interview the Doom Metal/Sludge Metal/Stoner Metal band OPTICAL SUN from Poland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or come out just like that?

The idea came out to Łukasz (guitarist) during high school times. He was carry this name for about 15 years until it can be used as band name.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We think that in some way it came up on its own. We mostly create our music during jam sessions. The ideas on jam sessions contains temporary mood or music which are you into at this stage so after that our music contains a little bit of this two. But for sure we like slow breakdowns! 3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? Yes we did. Four from 5 members now each others from highschool and played together in punk rock band. Przemek the drummer join later to play Optical Sun.

4. Each band member favourite band?

It's tricky question for every one of us so we decided to show the bands which we can listen together like: Ministry, Neurosis, Kyuss, Type O Negative, Joy Divison or The Cure. We even love black metal like Mgła or chill vibes like QUOTSa or The Dandy Warhols.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

It really depends, but mostly the current situation in your life inspire to write songs. But mostly the riffs cames out of nowhere for most out the time. It just like we come to rehearsal and ideas starts to come.

6. Where was your last gig?

In Siedlce, Poland - that was a kind of small rock festival in the club.

7. Where would you like to act?

For sure summer festivals like Brutal Assault.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

The list will be long but playing along with Ministry or Neurosis could be nice!

9. Whom not?

No one comes to our minds right now. Probably some band with opposite site of view at the world.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Yeah, for sure do some rehearsals. If you have confidence that you know what you're playing will be totally easier.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

It will be also the bands which we like the most - Ministry, Neuroris, Kyuss, My Dying Bride and even the ZZ Top!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing special at the moment, but we will see in the nearest future what will happen!

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are the best because we have the same music taste!

14. What do you think of our site?

That some solid work for music, totally appreciate that!
