Interviews: Blue Nicotine

This is a new interview with the Alternative Rock band Blue Nicotine from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the project name, you plan it or came out just like that?

The name ‘Blue Nicotine’ came together in two parts. The first part ‘Blue’ appeared when I was writing my debut single ‘Placebo Effect’. That specific song always reminded me of a very particular colour of blue every single time I played or listened to the first mixes etc. so seeing as that was always going to be the Debut Single for Blue Nicotine, that just stuck and felt right to be the first part of the name. That specific colour of blue that I always imagined then became the brand colour for Blue Nicotine. The second part ‘Nicotine’ is there to represent how much music means to myself and my addiction/need to make music. I couldn’t possibly imagine a world without music in it and I am very fortunate to be able to have the freedom to create my very own. Therefore ‘Nicotine’ represents that felt perfect to me.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Although I enjoy most genres when it came to beginning to write music and lyrics I was drawn to the rock genre as I am a blues/rock guitarist at heart. I was always surrounded by rock music when I was young and all my favourite bands growing up were predominantly rock bands therefore choosing the Rock Genre path seemed perfect for me and the one I felt most comfortable in.

3. Who are the members in the band?

Aidan - lead vocals/guitarist/songwriter

Lee – drums (live performer)

Ewan – bass (live performer)

4. Each project member favourite band?

Aidan – Guns n Roses

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I find inspiration in everything and anything whether it be other music, film and TV or even just how I feel on the day. All inspiration is good inspiration.

6. Where was your last gig?

Garage Attic, Glasgow on 13th February 2022.

7. Where would you like to play?

The Barrowlands Ballroom in Glasgow.

8. Who would you like to support?

Biffy Clyro, Black Stone Cherry and if somehow possible, Guns ‘N’ Roses.

9. Who not?

We would be honoured to support/play alongside all artists and bands. Nothing is off the table.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Not stage fright but nervousness to put on the best show I can to ensure everyone enjoys themselves in a safe space and leaves everyone in the audience looking forward to the next gig. With regards to tips for beginners, I would say any amount of nervousness/stage fright is a good thing. It means you care and that is incredibly important in this industry. The best tip I could give is try your best to turn that stage fright into a positive. That is what always helped me build my confidence.

11. What bands and artists have inspired you the most?

Guns ‘N’ Roses, Black Stone Cherry, Foo Fighters, U2, Biffy Clyro and The 1975. When it comes to guitar players alone, then Slash and Gary Moore are my role models.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Aidan: Nothing weird has ever been asked of us. Just hilarious things such as one of our wonderful fans throwing their shirt onto the stage and it landed directly on top of my head, I felt like a magician.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Aidan: I think the world of them! If there are no fans, there is no band at all, they truly are the lifeblood of a band/artist. Creating a safe space for my fanbase at live shows is paramount. It allows them to be 100% unapologetically themselves. The Blue Nicotine fans are a mix of such incredible unique people, and I am proud to be a part of this family.

14. What do you think of our site?

Aidan: I really like your site, it is really easy to view everything on the homepage and feels interactive when navigating it. I also love the theme/colours of it.

15. Something to add?

Just want to thank you very much for these questions, I have enjoyed this a lot! Keep in touch - https://www.bluenicotine.com/
