Interviews: Locust Grove

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?

The name came from a Civil War battle that took place in Oklahoma, "The Battle of Locust Grove" 

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We all grew up listening to the greats like AC/DC. Metallica, Pantera, Iron Maiden, and Megadeth to name a few. It's all about the powerful drums, guitar riffs, and bass with some punch to it!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No, we all met through the music scene here in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. 

4. Each band member's favorite band? 

Zain Smith: Metallica/Mudvayne

Joey Mandigo: Machine Head

Darian Thompson: Death

Quentin Williams: Korn

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Different things. Lyrically, it's life experiences and sometimes a hook will come out of nowhere and we will build a song around that. Sometimes that hook could be a melody or a phrase of lyric.

6. Where was your last gig?

89th Street Collective in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in February 

7. Where would you like to act?

Download Fest would be EPIC!!!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Black Label Society 

9. Whom not?

Justin Beiber or Aaron Carter 

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Our bassist, Quentin, said, in the beginning, he was shy on stage, but having other musicians on stage with him helped.

Rehearse and know your parts. Maybe have a shot to calm the nerves lol 

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Metallica, Pantera, Black Label Society, Lamb of God, Korn, Linkin Park, Sevendust, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Disturbed, and Machine Head,

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A signed sock.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They mean everything to us! That's what makes a band a real band is having markets to play where people come out and want to see the show! We have some of the best fans in the world.
