Interviews: Lÿnx

This is a new interview with the Rock 'N' Roll band Lÿnx from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?

Like most bands, we struggled in coming up with a good name & went through quite a few of them. We wanted something cool, catchy and very Canadian. Lÿnx hit all those while being able to create a very visually appealing Logo that we are very proud to show off.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We all come from very different musical backgrounds and have our own inspirations in music. Blade is a straight-up rock and roll guy, inspired highly by 80s hair bands. Fangs is inspired anywhere from classic rock to country music. On the other hand, Flash loves hard rock to heavy metal while our youngest member of the band Ja6ur grew up listening to the hair metal bands because of his dad & draws inspiration from there. Together we share a common love for rock n roll & that’s what made us create the Lÿnx sound.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

This is where our 80s inspiration meets modern technology. Most of us joined the band through social media ads on Facebook. Blade and our former vocalist formed the band initially where they started off with a cover of Lewis Capaldi’s song Someone you loved along with an epic music video to go along with it. Blade always wanted to make his own compositions from the beginning. After searching and working through a few bass players, and drummers we found Fangs and Flash who both with their hard rock roots were perfect additions to Lÿnx. Next thing you know we started writing, recording and releasing our first 2 EPS. Ja6ur joined the band as our frontman shortly after our former vocalist left the band. He had a killer audition while explaining to all of us that Ever since he was 5 years old, every time he was asked what I want to be the answer was “I want to be a Rockstar.” We all knew then that he was the perfect frontman for Lÿnx.

4. Each band member Favourite band?

Ja6ur: Skid Row

Blade: Guns n Roses

Flash: Pink Floyd

Fangs: Mr. Big

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Mostly, it’s all about real-life situations. Our dreams, family, struggles, etc. are an integral part of writing our songs. Everyone brings an equal part to the writing process, whether it be lyrics, or poetry everything is deconstructed into our songs.

6. Where was your last gig?

Broken City, Calgary is one of the best local venues in the Calgary music scene. Our last show there was put on by the Major Minor Music Project which does great things for the young musicians in our city.

7. Where would you like to act?

We have a few places that we would love to play in the future. Traveling to England to play Wembley stadium would be a dream come true. The beautiful Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado would be epic, and of course, the iconic Whiskey A Go Go to name a few.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We would love to work with some of the amazing new rock n Roll bands including Greta Van Fleet, Palaye Royale, and The Pretty Reckless. Also, if we ever had the chance to work with any of our idols it would be a dream come true.

9. Whom not?

We haven’t thought about who we wouldn’t want to feature with. It's not something we really focus on. If we all agree that someone doesn’t align with our morals and values we would come together as a band and decide together.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Of course. Every performing artist faces stage fright at some point in time. Our only tip would be to just trust yourself keep going and interact with your audience as much as you can. Practice, practice, practice is extremely important and will help ease you into performing. It makes the journey fun and easy-going. Music is an art that connects people so interaction with the audience goes a long way.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

We all have our own inspirations with everything from Hard Rock, Metal, and even Hip Hop. We can all agree that Guns n Roses, Skid Row, Mötley Crüe were our most consistent inspirations.

12. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We haven’t really had any weird requests from our fans yet. We have thoroughly enjoyed all our interactions with everyone who has come out to support us.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love our fans! They are the reason and motivation behind us getting up every day and doing what we love, making music. We hope to continue bringing them the music that we all know and Love.

14. What do you think of our site?

Breathing the core is a wicked site full of some awesome new bans. It makes it easy to find new music and up-and-coming bands in the scene. Anyone helping musicians has our full support and we really appreciate being featured on the site.

15. Something to add?

We just want to thank our friends and family for encouraging us to chase our dreams. Asher Media and Nate Trash for helping us get our name out there. We really appreciate all the support we’ve received and want to continue making everyone behind us proud.
