Interviews: No Tin Godz

This is a new interview with the Hard Rock/Metal band No Tin Godz from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?

The name was given to us by an Ouija board that a friend had given us. It was found in an abandoned farmhouse in West, Texas. We kicked a few names around, another being Hollywood Assassins. No Tin Godz kept popping up so we decided to roll with that and liked the meaning. A Tin god is a person, especially a minor official, who is pompous and self-important. We are the exact opposite of that definition. We are No Tin Godz…

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We have always had a love for hard rock and metal. Metal fans are the best fans in the world! They are very loyal. We are just being true to who we are. If we don’t dig it, we ain’t playing it. We are all about the groove!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Paul Kennedy met Lennis Hayes through mutual friends at a George Lynch show that Lennis was performing at. We met Mike online searching for a guitarist. When we all got in the same room everything came together naturally.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

We can all agree on Black Sabbath. Paul’s favorite is Tool, Lennis’ would more than likely be AC/DC, and Mike’s favorite is Metallica. We love these bands but we don’t sound anything like them. Our sound is truly organic.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life choices and experiences. We write what we know, how we live. Got a broken heart? We got a song for that…Wanna kick some ass? We got a song for that..Wanna bump uglies? We can write about that too! Lol

6. Where was your last gig?

Austin, Tx at Come and Take it Live

7. Where would you like to act?

A packed house ANYWHERE is always nice!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Never crossed our minds, but a feature with Ozzy would be cool. He’s respected by almost all genres and one of the only legends to stay relevant.

9. Whom not?

Not ones to be picky but I don’t see us pairing up with any bubble gum pop any time soon. But if the moneys right…haha just kidding!

10. Any of you ever suffered from stage fright?Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Everybody has experienced butterfly’s in the beginning. It’s only natural to be nervous. But as soon as you hit that first note, it all goes away. I’m sure most musicians will tell you that.

A contingency plan. Make sure you are prepared. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Most importantly of all, know the material you’ll be performing. Make life easier for yourself by making sure all your people are on the same sheet of music, so to speak.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Black Sabbath, Rob Zombie, Ghost, Metallica. That’s what people tell us anyways. That sounds like we could pair up with these groups nicely.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Haven’t had a weird moment, yet! But we welcome all freaks…you don’t have to wait until the night to come out..

13. What do you think of your fans?

Each fan counts and we appreciate our fans very much. They know it because we tell them all the time. Our fans can always hit us up!

14. What do you think of our site?

This site is awesome, showcases a lot of upcoming bands! Wouldn’t know about a lot of these bands without your site. Great source of information on the latest!

15. Something to add?

Our Ep drops on April 8 and we currently have a video up on YouTube called “I Walk Alone”. Make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel and add us on Facebook. You can also find us on www.notingodz.com
