Interviews: PESTIFER

This is a new interview with the Death Metal band PESTIFER from Belgium. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?

We planned it for years. One letter every three or four-month if I remember correctly. It had to sound random death metal at the time, and I think we managed that!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

When we started the band, this was the genre we simply loved. Great to hear, fun and challenging to play, and last but not least, it is THE ultimate genre to get money and women.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Our singer and guitarist weren't part of the band when it was created. My twin brother and I are the only ones left from that era. I met him in the balls of my father. We met Jeroen years before he joined the band. Only Valery, our guitarist, was and is, a perfect stranger.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Phil: No bands in particular, too many to mention

Jeroen: Dragonforce

Valery: Silmarils

Adrien: In Flames

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Nothing inspires us, that's why it's so hard and it takes so long to write excellent songs. Lyrics are inspired by sci-fi books.

6. Where was your last gig?

In Den Haag, Netherlands. We had a really fun weekend and met nice people (like Patrick). The only actual bad moment was the show itself because none of us was on a good day, so we played like shit. Especially Adrien.

7. Where would you like to act?

We miss gigs so much because of the Covid... At this point we would like to play anywhere we're asked to, except in Bernissart.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Any band that fills a venue with more people than us, so we can enjoy their success and the audience can discover their new favorite band.

9. Who not?

Pascal Obispo.

10. Have any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Not really, but I have to admit that before every show, usually one hour before stage time, I have to take out shit and it's never a good-looking one, really smelly and quite soft, like a mashed potato. So I guess even if it's in my subconscious, my body sends me some signals of nervousness. My advice is to always have toilet paper in your bag, you never know.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Metallica, because that's the one that brought me into metal when I was young. Even if I have a lot of bands I like much better, no one had a bigger influence on my life. Jeroen has the same feeling about Dragonforce.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We were asked once to play in a barbecue on a Sunday afternoon, with little kids everywhere, including on stage. That was quite unusual for sure (true story).

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are beautiful people, with excellent tastes in music. We love them very much.

14. What do you think of our site?

It's really cool, great job!

15. Something add?

Thanks for the interview, feel free to buy our albums, they are worth it.
