Interviews: Catacomb

This is a new interview with the Black Metal/Death Metal band Catacomb from France. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?

Ben: on the school benches! Tony, James (former singer) and I were in the same school and very good friends already.

Tony: I remember the bench was green next to a church...lol

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Ben: we have always been a fan of heavy metal, which led us to thrash and logically to death metal.

Tony: Lovecraft culture and horror movies have also influenced us a lot

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Ben: As said before, we were in the same high school and were already very good friends. We were all already more or less in different groups, and on this famous bench, we decided to form only one! Catacomb is born. 

Tony: We only needed a drummer, whom we found some time later in the person of Casseri Jerome.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Ben: All old-school heavy metal band! and My best in death grind is Napalm death!

Tony: Morbid angel and those poor bastards

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Ben: At the level of the texts, I am inspired almost solely by the writings and the culture of the writer HP Lovecraft and the myth of Cthulhu.

Tony: Everything except death metal!

6. Where was your last gig?

Tony: With suppuration in France in marseille in 2003!

7. Where would you like to act?

Ben: With the court of crawling chaos azathoth, at the center of the universe! 

Tony: but seriously in some summer festivals (Hellfest, motocultor, brutal assault…)

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Ben and Tony: the bands that rocked our young years!

9. Who not?

Ben and Tony: really no one!

10. Have Any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Ben: stage fright? not really!

Tony: I don't call that stage fright! just adrenaline… what I would advise everyone is to accept and believe in what you are doing!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Tony: Morbid angel, entombed!

Ben: morbid angel, deicide, death!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Ben: hell yeah! we wouldn't be here without the fans and head bangers! so my greatest respect to them!

Tony: we are lucky to have the best fan base in the history of music!!!

14. What do you think of our site?

Ben and Tony: Great! very pro very clean, really good

Ben and Tony: Thank Nico and Xenokorp for pulling us out of the ground with this 12" EP and thank you for your interest in Catacomb as well as all your readers and our fans! we are already working on an album surely to come in 2023 at Xenokorp as well as the whole back catalog in the reissue.
