Interviews: Jaws Of Life

This is a new interview with the Pop Punk band Jaws Of Life from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?

I heard it in a song if I remember rightly, we had a joke name to begin with “Jane from accounts” but when we decided to be an actual band we wanted something more fitting and this had a ring to it. Everything else on the list we had before that was awful!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

When we first started jamming we played all sorts of stuff even some metal was in there, but the pop-punk stuff was just stronger than everything else and we enjoyed playing those songs the most - overall we find it much more fun to write and play pop-punk. We all come from metal bands so it was a nice change

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I and rhys have known each other for years and we live together. I was in a band with Steve for a very long time so we’re good friends and he also knows Rhys. Steve and Tim are childhood friends and Steve introduced us to Tim. It’s such a good atmosphere in the band we are all on the same page musically and have the same vision for the band so it’s actually smooth sailing

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Mitch: Slipknot

Steve: green day

Rhys: van Halen

Tim: The police

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

In terms of the music, it’s either there or it’s not. We don’t sit down and say let’s write today. It’ll start from someone having a lead line or a riff n we just go with it, personally, a lot of my ideas tend to come to me in random places like the shower or in the car, I’ll end up singing it into my phone so I don’t forget! Lyric wise a lot of it is a personal experience, I can only speak for myself but I’ve really struggled with my mental health in my life and I’m finally in a really good place and I want to convey that in our songs. Regardless of how bad something seems, it will pass. I’ve been to some of the lowest lows and now I couldn’t be happier so I really want to get that message out there. I still think mental health isn’t taken seriously enough so I want to do all I can, even if that’s just helping someone forget their problems whilst they listen to us!

6. Where was your last gig?

We haven’t done our first show yet! One of my last shows was in my old band and we supported While She sleeps. Then again we did a gig in our practice room for our upcoming video stargazing so I suppose we can count on that!

7. Where would you like to play?

Anywhere and everywhere - we just want to be on stage playing whether it’s a house party or a huge venue. Sign us up! 8. Who would you like to support? That’s a tough one, I’d say someone like bowling for soup/ Newfound glory/ Sum41/ Blink182 would be insane as we have grown up on those bands

9. Who not?

I mean I love this band but how funny would it be opening for someone like a dying fetus! Polar opposites

10. Have Any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I wouldn’t say stage fright as such but nerves for sure! I think just practice practice practice and have faith in your ability. Normally a song or two in and you get into it.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

All the pop-punk kings - blink182/ simple plan / new found glory/ neck deep the list goes on.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Well, we don’t really have “fans “right now being so new haha. We will get back to you on that one

13. What do you think of your fans?

Again being so new we haven’t played yet but we can’t wait to get out there, play music and meet new people. That’s always been the best part of being in a band is meeting new people and we can’t wait to do that with this band

14. What do you think of our site?

We think it’s great, thank you for speaking with us. It’s really appreciated and helps get our name out there so thank you!

15. Something to add?

Our new single Stargazing is out on 14/04/2022 to be sure to check it out! https://www.facebook.com/jawsoflifeband
