Interviews: Native Sons

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?

The band name “Native Sons,” came from a Brainstorming session with Bill, the CEO of High Vol records. We are all Native to something or somewhere. We happen to be Native Sons of Rock and Roll.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Rock and Roll get in your blood, maybe you pick it, maybe it picks you.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No, not really.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Jim – Humble Pie, Stones, Zeppelin

Ashton - Black Sabbath, Dio, Tom Petty

JT – Van Halen

Victor – Kiss

Mike – King’s X

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Ashton- I write what I feel the song calls for. I pull from personal experience, the people around me, and everyday life.

6. Where was your last gig?

Ft. Wayne, IN

7. Where would you like to act?

We are ready to jam, anywhere but the big festivals are our favorite and we really want to go to Europe.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Not long ago we would have said “Foo Fighters” and that’s still true, but there are so many great acts, Def Leppard, Alice Cooper, and Tesla, the list gets long very quickly, especially with all the great bands on the scene today.

9. Who not?

We always want to jam.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Having a little anxiety is a sign you’re excited, but with stage fright it becomes debilitating. Being prepared always helps and having a character to fall into makes being on stage easier.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Rolling Stones, Beatles, Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin, Sabbath, Dio…

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A lock of hair.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Native Sons have a sensational group of fans that love music, especially rock. As a group, they enjoy many bands and help us support our peers too. The community the fans have created is the absolute best!

14. What do you think of our site?

Really enjoy the way you are supporting underground and independent music.
