Interviews: SCARS

This is a new interview with the Metal band SCARS from Norway. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it or come out just like that?

Ole who played in Mecalimb at that time, wanted to do something else. Something more personal. So, he started Scars as a solo project and called it Scars as a reference to his scars in life.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

All of us started to listen to hair metal in the eighties and we were there when the heavier stuff arrived in the nighties. And early 2000 the Gothenburg sound appeared with a combination, of heavy and catchy riffs with lots of melodies. So, I think we added a combination of the things we grow up with.

3. Did you know each other before the band?

Ole and Geir are brothers and have made music together all their life. Ole and Torben have played on and of for almost 30 years. The three of them made a demo together back in 94. Then with Geir on drums and vocals. Robin took over for Torben on guitar in Mecalimb in 2010, so all in all have we known each other for a very long time.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Torben: a lot of Norwegian stuff, Bokassa, Kvelertak, DumDumBoys… but also some of the Gothenburg band, like In Flames...

Ole: Ghost, Gothenburg band, Clawfinger, And all the eighties metal band

Geir: AC/DC, Kiss, early Whitesnake.

Robin: I listen to so much different music that one is almost impossible to answer. Everything from 80's hard rock, thrash, heavy metal, death, black, prog, etc...Dissection, Nevermore, Emperor, Cannibal Corpse, and Death need to be mentioned though...in addition to a lot of other bands. Too many to mention really

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Pornhub, Princess Leia, and the inventor of women’s tights.

6. Where was your last gig?

We played our last gig in our hometown, Fredrikstad with our buddies in Camelio.

7. Where would you like to act?

I think South America would be awesome!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

If they have a guitar, bass, and drums and know who Dio is, we`re in! 9. Whom not? Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton! I guess…

10. Have Any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I think we all have suffered from that at some point, but it will pass if you stick to it and don’t back out! Always take a shit before you go on stage, place a puke bucket within reach, and don’t be afraid to take a beer or two!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The crème de la creme from the eighties! Hair metal bands, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, and so on…

12. What is the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Two in the pinky and one in the stinky!

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are awesome! It’s always cool to see them come back for more and have a chat with them after the show!

14. What do you think of our site?

Awesome site with awesome music! Just add more Scars in your monitor and we will give the site 6 golden cocks!!

15. Anything to add?

Scars have postponed two European tours with Six Feet Under due to covid, but we hope to see you all very soon!! Trust No One will be released on the 6. Of May on Wormhole Death Records! Stay tuned for more amazing news, music, kamikaze footage, and cowbell!!
