Interviews: Astro Lloyd

This is a new interview with the Alternative Rock band Astro Lloyd from Sweden. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

We were just talking about Astro Turf (fake grass) and what you would want to name your children if you ever had any. So it came from combining the name for fake grass and what our first drummer would want to name his child, which is Lloyd.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It was not something we planned, we just started writing songs and most of them fell into the alternative rock category.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes! The band was started by Andreas and our old guitarist Martin who had played together in a metal band. The same day our old band ended we started writing a new song, recruited our old drummer Nils (related to Andreas), and just got our friends into the band after that.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Andreas favorite band is Foo Fighters, Cornelis is into Black Sabbath and Mattias and Gustaf likes Mastodon.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Everything around us. When writing a new song, it usually starts with someone showing half of an idea and then we just write together and inspire each other.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at Medley in Malmö on May 4! Live clips from the show are available on Youtube!

7. Where would you like to perform?

Vega in Copenhagen is a venue we would love to play at. Beautiful venue with a lot of great bands and artists playing

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

Would be pretty cool to open for Biffy Clyro. Or other Swedish bands like The Hives, Millencolin or Royal Republic.

9. Whom not?

We would not turn down a gig, would be able to fix our setlist to match most settings.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Not really, most of us are nervous when getting up on stage but it disappears as soon as we start playing. Tips for beginners would be to be prepared, know your parts, know the ones you play with and just have fun. If something goes wrong, shake it off and just continue, no use getting stuck there.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro, and The Hives have been the most inspirational when writing our upcoming record ‘LOUD NOISES’

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Have not had any strange requests yet, still waiting for that one! 13. What do you think of your fans? They’re great, we’re still a relatively small band and when someone calls themselves a fan and really likes the music, it’s a great feeling!

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s great, easy to navigate, easy on the eyes, and has a lot of interesting articles you just want to click on and read!
