Interviews: THE DECAYED

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

We were just kind of talking with each other and discussing how civilization seems to be on the downfall and going in the wrong direction and I thought that it all was decaying and we are the decayed. And hence The Decayed came out of that discussion

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We've always listened to fast, aggressive, heavy music and it is what we like to play.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, all of us have been in random other bands with each other at some point in time. Finally, this combination came together and The Decayed was born.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Jake, Guitar & Vocals: Motorhead, Suicidal Tendencies, Black Flag

Pat, Bass: Naked Raygun, Primus

Dave, Guitar: Born Against, The Misfits

Steve, Drums: Dissection, Amorphis

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Recently, it has been current events that have inspired us, it's hard not to write about all the terrible stuff that has been happening in the world lately. But also we all love horror movies and sometimes get inspired to write songs about crazy gory horror-inspired splatterfests.

6. Where was your last gig?

LiveWire Lounge in Chicago for the Save the Rock N Roll fest to benefit all the Chicago underground venues that have been struggling due to Covid restrictions. 

7. Where would you like to act?

Anywhere, anytime. You got a stage we will play it.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Huge fans of Municipal Waste. That would be cool.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Not since I was a kid first starting. The best tip is to just not think about it and get on stage and start playing.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Motorhead, Old school Metallica, Black Flag, Rancid, Suicidal Tendencies, Naked Raygun, Born Against

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing weird, our fans are all cool.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Great. If there are no fans then there is no us. The fans are everything. Keep fast, heavy music alive at all costs.

14. What do you think of our site?

Great, any site that wants to help promote underground music is fan fucking tastic.
