Interviews About Albums: Parthian - Desolation Of A Ceaseless Dawn (2022)

In this new interview, we sat down with the American Progressive Metal band Parthian to ask some questions about their new album "Desolation Of A Ceaseless Dawn"

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

This is our debut, full-length album entitled "Desolation of a Ceaseless Dawn" which is a Progressive Death Metal concept album.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

Desolation of a Ceaseless Dawn ties into the story of the album. It represents a theme in the album of breaking the cycle. The main character in the story starts his journey by breaking the cycle of his monotonous and unfulfilling work.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

This album was composed by all members of Parthian: Adam Faris (Guitar/Vocals), DJ Dixon (Drums), and Jacky Patrick (Bass)

4. If you have to pick one song, which one would you pick?

Overall the song "Call of the Void" is our magnum opus. It's the culmination of everything we wanted to convey on this album as well as a few unique parts, such as a surf rock part near the middle of the song and a lot of ambient parts that were fun to experiment with. This is all wrapped up in a 12-minute, through-composed epic. We are also very attached to the song "Numinous" as it's our lead single and at the time of writing this we just finished a music video for it that should be releasing soon.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

Being a concept album, the music is paired with a full 24-page Lovecraftian-Esque novella written by our drummer D.J. We haven't released the official story yet but we have plans for it in the future. In brief, the story is as follows: A scientist, who has become unfulfilled with his current line of work seeks out "higher knowledge" and finds the knowledge but in typical Lovecraft nature, he finds much more than he was looking for and ultimately summons a hideous monster with its own prerogative. The meeting of the scientist and the creature is depicted on the cover of the album.

6. Are there some lyrics that you´d love to share?

At 6:41 in the song "Call of the Void" there's a line we enjoy that explains the motivations of the creature: Otherworldly being Sent to Earth Harvesting and feeding Fueling Rebirth

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

The inspiration for this album was mostly a nod to our love for horror and old horror writers. We are also huge fans of new school horror movies and video games. We were able to pull all of our collective influences musically together and create a very unique and interesting experience. Parthian would like to thank Scott Spriggs, the producer of this album. Adam would like to thank his wife Paige and all the friends both irl and on Twitch that made this happen. He would also like to thank Youtuber, Jacksepticeye for his generous donation and support on Twitch. D.J. and Jacky would like their parents, family, and all of their friends on Twitch that supported them both individually and as a band along the way.

8. Something to add?

8. Parthian will be playing Wichita, KS @ TempleLive Wichita 8/30 with Cane Hill, New Albany, KS 9/3 @ Wineglass Ramps for a BMX event, and Denver, CO 9/10 at Trailside Saloon.
