Interviews: Our Dying World

This is a new interview with the Melodic Death Metal/Thrash Metal band Our Dying World from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on his FACEBOOK PAGE

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?

Our Dying World was created in response to an inward look at the world we’re creating for ourselves. We’re not trying to push a political statement or anything; we’re merely a mirror of what we observe in humanity and reflect the content into our music.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Melodic death metal and thrash are something we collectively really enjoy in music. I think for each of us, the rhythmic and melodic side of metal was something that came to us easily and we each bring a piece of those styles into the band.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Tom and Nick knew each other from previous projects and Tom and Ray had worked together on a job site a few times. The rest of the members were just part of the local scene and hadn’t met each other until the project was formed.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Tom and Graham - Children Of Bodom

Nick - King Diamond

Ray - Jason Isbell

David - Lamb Of God

Austin - Cradle Of Filth

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We’ve got so many influences but most of them are from current events and happenings in the world. Turn on the news and you’ll see death and destruction from every station. The news just shoves violence down our throats as soon as we wake up so it’s not hard to pick a subject to write about

6. Where was your last gig?

The last gig was at Stages in Santa Ana CA for our album release.

7. Where would you like to act?

We’re pretty open to playing anywhere that will have us. Right now we’ve got a great start in California but we’re looking to expand our horizons in the future.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We’d love to play with Wintersun, Lamb Of God, Mors Principium Est, and basically any of the big metal bands that we fit into a category with. We have the utmost love and respect for the music they’ve brought to the scene.

9. Who not?

At this stage of the game, I think there isn’t anyone we wouldn’t want to play with. We’re just trying to build a name for ourselves and anywhere we can expand that fanbase is good for us.

10. Have any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Just keep playing. Enjoy it. It’s always nerve-racking to get up and perform in front of people. It gets easier with time. If you believe in your music and enjoy the things you’re playing you’ll have a great time, every time, even if there are some mistakes. The studio is for perfect performances. The stage is for memories.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Children Of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir, Nightwish, Cradle Of Filth, and Lamb Of God are the big ones.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We haven’t gotten any strange requests from anyone yet. I’m sure it’ll happen in the future but so far, nothing out of the ordinary.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are beautiful. What else would they be? Anyone who wants to be a part of this family is welcome. We accept everyone as we would hope they’d do for us.

14. Something to add?

Thanks for checking out the music and we hope to have some new stuff coming before long!
