Interviews: Falling Giant

This is a new interview with the Alternative Metal band Falling Giant from Italy. Check out the interview and follow the band on his FACEBOOK PAGE

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?

The name of the band was the idea of Tucci, our bass player. I (Gaetano frontman of the band) insisted on the name Act One, for my working relationship with cinema and theater. Act One was cacophonous. So we asked a pizza retailer for advice. He chose Act One, so we went for Falling Giant. A falling giant makes a lot of noise and we want to awaken the world with our sound.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Alternative metal was a natural compromise that developed from the various genres that we all hear in the band. Our ratings vary a lot. Who comes from hardcore, who from Metal, who from death, who from prog. Combining our passions, we understood that the balance of sound was there, in that somewhat particular genre that straddles alternative rock and metal. We have a lot of gothic nuances, especially in the lyrics, and that is our peculiarity.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I was the last to come along with the drummer. Luke (lead guitar), Phil (rhythm guitar), and Tucci were already a band that had been going on since high school. But the serious things started with our union.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

I grew up with Thirty Seconds, to Mars, Green Day, and Him. Luke is undoubtedly the Avenged Sevenfold. Phil loves Breaking Benjamin, Tucci loves Tool and Sauron (our drummer), well he's much more hardcore. I would say the Infant Annihilator.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Literature takes the first place in the chain of inspiration. Ideas usually start from a riff, a melody, an idea, or a sound. A concept to tell. Very often we draw our sources of inspiration from books, stories, and mythology. I have a weakness for gothic literature.

6. Where was your last gig?

In Rome. A memorable live concert

7. Where would you like to perform?

We would like to take part in festivals like Download, Rock Am Ring, Wacken ...

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

I would say that here we can connect to the question above about our favorite bands! I would love to share the stage with Jared Leto, Ville Valo, and Billie Joe Armstrong ... although I think it would be a blast to share an evening with Nergal and Corey Taylor as well.

9. Who not?

The Motley Crue! Despite their age, they could easily steal our girlfriends.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Each of us in the band has our own way of experiencing stage fright. It is normal, for humans to have it. Fear must be channeled into adrenaline, like gasoline. That feeling is nice. Maybe that's the essence of an exhibition.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Alter Bridge, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Him, A perfect circle, and Bring me the Horizon, continue to inspire us every time. We like to be inspired by the older ones, it is important.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

There was this girl who came backstage at the end of the concert, begging us to leave our sweaty t-shirts. I understand it's not that strange, but it was the first time anyone showed an interest in us not related to music.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are the fuel of our creation. Thinking that there is someone, even one, listening to us, means that what we write has a goal.

14. What do you think of our site?

It is thanks to sites like yours that bands like ours can have spaces where they can tell each other without constraints. What you do is very important, and vital, for the community. As long as you exist we will also exist.

15. Something to add?

We are working a lot on the new album. It is an ambitious, dark, sensual, and musically complex project. And with our managers Roberto and Damian we are working for the next lives ... there will be great things. Be ready and stay demon!
