Interviews: Gerald Peter Project

This is a new interview with the Progressive Rock project Gerald Peter Project from Austria. Check out the entire interview and give him a follow on his FACEBOOK PAGE

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?

I wanted to have a project, where it is all about my music, my compositions, my playing ... so I named it after my real name with the addition 'project' because it's a big project.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I enjoy mixing different genres, but all these genres I was inspired by listening, prog, over soundtrack music, dubstep, jazz, classical, and fusion, ...

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, I knew Aaron, the drummer from my previous band Circle of Illusion

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Hard to say, but obviously, I am very influenced by Dream Theater which I listened to all the time in my teenage years. These days I am really inspired by pianists like Anomalie, Tigran Hamasyan, Jesus Molina, and Cory Henry and composers like Michael League, John Williams, Thomas Bergersen, and Hans Zimmer.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I really don't know, I think it's an inner urge to realize ideas and develop them.

6. Where was your last gig?

With Gerald Peter Project I had a CD release gig at a cinema in Vienna and one other festival concert in Austria in a local town called Fels am Wagram!

7. Where would you like to act?

Royal Albert Hall

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

I would like to play a keyboard solo and play keyboards in a band like Tesseract, Haken, or Muse as well as Dirty Loops or Anomalie Band.

9. Who not?

Any band I cannot identify with the music.

10. Have any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes, but there is no recipe ... just do it as often as you can, and be prepared, be so well prepared that you could do it while sleeping. Also try to record yourself while practicing and try to analyze and fine-tune your performance with the recording, practice in front of friends until a point where you can say, you are able to do it whatever happens. Then you just need to put yourself out there and you will be fine. Fright will go away with routine.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

In Prog: Dream Theater, Haken, Transatlantic, Symphony X In Jazz / Funk: Snarky Puppy, Hiromi, Anomalie, Tigran Hamasyan In Film music: John Williams, Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

No weird things happened so far

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are very nice and friendly people.

14. What do you think of our site?

Website? My website is awesome.

15. Something to add?

Thanks for the interview and interest in my music.
