Interviews: Makunaybah

This is a new interview with the Groove Metal/Thrash Metal band Makunaybah from Brazil. Check out the entire interview and give them a follow on their FACEBOOK PAGE. 

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that? 

We wanted a name that had Brazilian references, so in this search, we discovered the Makuna, who were an ethnic group that resisted the colonization of the Portuguese, we made the connection with the word Aiba, which is also indigenous, and adapted until reaching Makunaybah.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It's actually a reflection of what we like, we can put together 80's thrash lines, along with the 90's Groove wave, it's a very heavy, brutal mix, things that make our head. hahaha

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? 

Only Will (guitarist) and Magaiver (bass player) knew each other, they played together in other bands.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Levi (drums): Slipknot

Magaiver (bass): Ramones

Will (guitar): Lamb of god

João (vocals): Motorhead

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

Our main inspiration is Sepultura, and we talk about what we live, the difficulties we face in our country, and basically the reality, everything that surrounds us.

6. Where was your last gig? 

Our band is new, we recently released our first single, we are writing new music and promoting the band. Soon we want to hit the road and break heads with our songs hahahahaha

7. Where would you like to act? 

I think every musician or band dreams of playing at big festivals, I don't know Rock am Ring, Download, Hellfest, Wacken, it would really be a dream, but the underground has its magic and fun, basically playing anywhere and taking our music to as many places as possible is already good. I can't say. hahaha

8. Whom would you like to feature with? 

Sepultura

I can't say. hahaha

10. Have Any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that? 

The stage is the band's playground. hahaha,  You're always a little afraid, that something might go wrong and such. But if you really like what you do, you will overcome any fear, just dedicate yourself to the maximum that things happened naturally.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?  

Slayer, Pantera, Lamb of god, Motorhead, Sepultura, Soulfly.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We haven't had any weird requests yet, but you know how it is, one hour a weird request comes up. hahahahaha

13. What do you think of your fans? 

We have a crowd enjoying it, we are a new band, but we are already managing to conquer a very nice audience, we only had good responses about the release of our music, so we know we are on the right track.

14. What do you think of our site? 

Very cool, it has a lot of content, you can meet a lot of new bands, a lot of cool information.

15. Something to add?

Yea, We are Makunaybah, we are here to show our sound and conquer our space, we are here to stay, follow the band there that this is just the beginning.
