Interviews: PURENVY

This is a new interview with the Melodic Metal band PURENVY from the UK. Check out the entire interview and give them a follow on their FACEBOOK PAGE. 

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?

The name was inspired by a friend of Adams. Oddly enough, it came out of the blue after searching for available names for the band.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

This is a bit of a tough question to answer. Considering the sound of the band is quite a challenge to pigeonhole, it’s safe to say that we create the music we want to hear. We never set out to create music for a specific genre … it's just what comes out.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Adam and Josip met a number of years earlier through guitar lessons funnily enough, but we didn’t play in the band together until a fair few years later. Zac and Josip went through high school playing music together As for Dave, he was the missing puzzle. When we were looking for a bass player, Dave was recommended by a close friend of ours.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Adam - Iron Maiden 

Josip - Metallica

Dave - Iron Maiden

Zac - The Black Dahlia Murder

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Inspiration can come from a variety of sources. In the early days of our musical journeys, it usually came from the bands we love. Such as ACDC, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Kreator, Killswitch Engage, Trivium, All That Remains, The Black Dahlia Murder, AT The Gates, and The Haunted, to name a few. Other than that, inspiration can strike at any time … it can come after experiencing something in life that’s positive, or negative, and it's up to us as musicians to capture outside influences in order to paint a picture to present to the world.

7. Where would you like to act?

Perform possibly? We’d love to get over to Europe and the US

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Trivium would be a dream come true

9. Who not?

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Although we’ve played our fair share of shows around the country, we still get nervous at times before playing. Some of us may feel a little flat, while others will feed off the nervous energy. With regards to tips …. Just do it! The more you do it the easier it becomes. Being prepared and well-rehearsed can help to alleviate some pressure as well

11. What bands have inspired you the most? 

Metallica, Iron Maiden, Trivium, AT The Gates, Killswitch Engage

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Zac - After playing at a local music festival “Thrashville” a young fan came up to Zac and asked if there were any broken sticks that he could have. The boy being quite adamant that he wasn’t interested in a fresh stick, just a signed broken one from the show would do nicely. The young boy left with a whopper of a smile on his face. There you have it … something that would’ve been thrown out was something memorable for somebody else

13. What do you think of your fans?

They’re everything and the lifeblood of the band. Sure, we make music for ourselves, but there’s nothing more satisfying than seeing that people love what you do
