Interviews: Xenomorph

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Nihilistic Black Metal project, Xenomorph from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?

Xenomorph, Greek for “Strange or Alien Changer” has been the creator of this project’s alias for 2 decades under different art forms and endeavors. Besides the reference to the creature born from HR Giger’s imagination, the artist relates much to a being who is merely born into the world and forced to undergo morphosis in rapidly fluctuating environments.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Solo black metal has been the single greatest source of inspiration to me since a near-total collapse of self over a decade ago, since that time I have redefined my identity through this music, so it was only natural I eventually became a solo black metal artist in my own right.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Xenomorph is currently a solo project, although in time I hope to bring it to stage with friends in the local midwest black metal scene.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Xenomorph’s favorite bands will always be Gorgoroth, Emperor, Leviathan, Burzum, and Morbid Angel

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

My own dissatisfaction with humanity, hatred for those who oppressed my individuality, and a controlled outlet of extremely powerful and negative emotions.

6. Where would you like to act?

For now, I am content with a solo project.

7. What bands have inspired you the most?

Emperor and Bolt Thrower, the first for their constant progression with each release, transcending the genre within a decade, and Bolt Thrower for their diligence in staying true to their brand and only putting out music for their fans.

8. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

At this point just being asked to sign tapes and for fans at shows has been a joy.

9. What do you think of your fans?

Anyone who enjoys my music and has purchased tapes, shirts, CDs, or even patches…even as simple as a share on social media means the world to me, and I consider family.

10. What do you think of our site?

I have always enjoyed the in-depth coverage of underground music on your site!

11. Something to add?

Support the underground metal scene, and support artists who pour their heart and soul into their music. Not to diminish bigger signed bands, but underground is where the community, friends, family, and real experience are to be found.
