Interviews: Humaniac

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Technical Death Metal/Progressive Death Metal/Symphonic Death Metal band, Humaniac from Russia. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band name is just a mix of the words "human" and "maniac". We like puns and found out that the word "humaniac" exists only several years ago.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We never tried to play a distinct style, Humaniac was always about combining all we like in metal music and not only. It became something that can be called technical/progressive/symphonic death metal (or whatever you call) it without clear intentions to do exactly this.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Alexey and Vadim are brothers, other guys joined the band after being fellow with them for some time. They all played in other bands from Moscow underground scene.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Alexey - Emperor

Andrey - Behemoth

Artem - Beneath the Massacre

Kirill - Abominable Putridity

Vadim - Death You can see different schools and generations of metal in this list. It's one of the reasons, why Humaniac incorporates very different elements in music.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

In our case inspiration works a bit differently: we absorb various impressions and emotions, ideas and thoughts, it all mixes in a cauldron of our psycho and then results in what you can hear. And it's often hard to trace the path and find out the "origins" of a distinct music piece.

6. Where was your last gig?

In 2019, last years we were very busy in other projects and activities.

7. Where would you like to act?

On the tired old sun from our latest album cover)

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

With Between the Buried and Me. We find their approach to music very similar to our.

9. Whom not?

Old Lynyrd Skynyrd 1977) Seriously, we don't like bands that parasite on heritage of metal legends like Iron Maiden. Their names are too famous to be called.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

No, we never had such problems. While playing you should always remember, that you are on the stage, not the audience, you are the master here and it gives not only responsibilities but also rights. Sounds arrogant, but it works. You have all the rest of the time for being a good guy.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Probably the list will be the same as mentioned above. Also, we want to pay respect and gratitude to Alexi Laiho (R.I.P.), whom we consider one of the best composers in the metal genre.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To teach "secret" harmonic and melodic tricks for any price. We are still negotiating)

13. What do you think of your fans?

We are sure that there are more of them than it seems.

14. What do you think of our site?

Cool site, it's great that you do promos and review bands from countries that usually are not associated with metal.

15. Something to add?

Don't be afraid, don't listen to anyone, and never say that everything is already invented.
