Interviews: PARKER

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Punk band, PARKER from Ireland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We started talking about the band in 2020 and I had just recently binged all of the MCU films whilst in lockdown. I think I had just watched Spider-Man Far From Home and so we decided to name the band after Peter Parker.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

I’ve been in punk bands and rock bands since I was 13, I’ve been doing it for almost half my life at this point and it’s the type of music I listen to every day. I love all kinds of music but there’s nothing more enjoyable to me than playing rock music in a band!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Michael and I have been in bands together since we were 15. We met Eoghan probably not long after that as we were all playing in bands in the same local scene. We’ve all been friends for a long time so it was very easy to get things going together.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Dylan: Weezer

Michael: Foo Fighters

Eoghan: Mitski

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

That’s a tricky one. I guess I’m the same as a lot of writers in that my general life experiences inspire me to write lyrics. Musically I’m very heavily inspired by Weezer, Pixies and Fighting With Wire - particularly in writing this most recent record.

6. Where was your last gig?

Last show we played was in Newcastle county at a food and music festival called Eats and Beats. The Undertones were headlining which was great to see.

7. Where would you like to act?

It would be a dream come to true to play somewhere like The Knitting Factory in Brooklyn or Metro in Chicago. Would really love to headline the Nerve Centre in our hometown of Derry. Oh and Brixton Academy, that’s a dream venue for sure. 

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

I’d like to play a show with Against Me! I feel like that would be brilliant.

9. Whom not?

Haha, I don’t know. I don’t think we’d go down to well on a bill with Nathan Carter, but who knows.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

I don’t know if I’d go as far to say “stage fright” but I’ve definitely been extremely nervous, and still often am nervous before shows. That usually goes away as soon as we start playing though. To beginners I would say the best way to get over nerves is to play as often as you can infront or people.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

All the previously mentioned bands; Weezer, Pixies, Fighting With Wire, Foo Fighters. I’d say the first band that inspired me to play music was Guns N Roses, the first band that inspired me to start a band was blink 182. Against Me! are another huge influence to me.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I’ve not personally had any weird fan experiences.

13. What do you think of your fans?

If anyone out there likes our music and considers them self a “fan,” then I am extremely grateful for that. It’s always a really nice feeling when someone likes something that you’ve made.

14. What do you think of our site?

I think it’s great! You cover lots of really cool bands and were really happy to be included!
