Interviews: DEAD MEMORY

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Heavy Rock band, DEAD MEMORY from Germany. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE. 

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band name was created at the very beginning of the band's history. The band was originally formed from previously disbanded bands, from which individual members re-formed into DEAD MEMORY. And from this story, then the band name was born!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Because we all listen to this genre ourselves and it’s so energetic. To stand on stage and play the hard guitar riffs, to hear the driving drum rhythm, to see how people react to it, that's just fun!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

David and Jonas knew each other from previous bands, along with two other founding members. Gerrit and Lukas joined them over the years and turned the band into the rock formation it is today.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Jonas – Ärzte

Gerrit – Ghost

David – Ghost

Lukas – Metallica

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We take inspiration from other bands. Each of us is a big music fan and brings very different influences into the band. And then combining them musically is exciting every time. Especially when it results in a whole album like "Awake". The lyrics are taken from everyday life. What we are currently occupied with, or what is happening in the world is captured in lyrics and then transported musically to the audience.

6. Where was your last gig?

The last gig was in November 2021 in Marl, Germany.

7. Where would you like to act?

We already had the pleasure to play at Rock am Ring once. However, on a somewhat smaller stage, which was in front of the site to heat up the fans. That was a really incredible gig, but if we would come there again on the main stage...😊

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Each band member probably has his own dreams regarding this question 😊. But performing together with your own idols and favorite bands would of course be a dream.

9. Whom not?

Right-wing extremist bands or those that speak against the freedom of individual groups of people in their lyrics and in their performances. We are a band, which is open-minded and likes to stand up for people, and we want to transport this with every concert (and the corresponding bands)!

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes, of course, everyone. Without a bit of stage fright, the whole thing is only half as much fun 😊. I think the most important thing is to know the first song very well and then go on stage with joy. The rest will then develop all by itself!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

I think there are too many to count. In the end, everything you have experienced so far will somehow be an input to your creative process.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I don’t think there was anything too weird, to be honest. Maybe we just have very awesome fans.

13. What do you think of your fans?

For years we have been using the hashtag #deadmemoryfamily everywhere and welcome all visitors to concerts, who are there for the first time, in the family. This has the simple reason that we really mean it! We don't want to be a band that stands on top and is idolized by fans. We want to have the feeling of being a big family at concerts, having a great evening, and celebrating together!

14. What do you think of our site?

We were just introduced to your site, but I think it is awesome that you give a platform to artists like us, and help them to reach people with their music and bring fun to the world of rock, metal, and hardcore!
