Interviews: Psionic Madness

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal/Grindcore band, Psionic Madness from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE. 

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band name came from the album Festering Anti-Cosmic Wound by Vølus, singer Justin Vølus wrote a song entitled "Under Psionic Madness"

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We wanted to combine the crushing nature of Death Metal and the speed of Grindcore.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Justin Vølus: Yes, this is not our first band together. We've all been friends for a long time, this is the first band Nick and I collaborated on. Jared Moran was our mutual friend, Jared and I were in Maggot Crown and Flesh Configuration before this band's formation (Jared and I are in 4 bands together excluding this one)

4. Each band member's favorite band?

That's hard to narrow down and I can't speak for everyone but we all love death metal, grindcore, and black metal.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We are all workaholics when it comes to music, we are obsessed with results. I'm in 6 bands, Jared is in possibly 50 plus active studio bands and a couple live ones in the Mississipi metal scene (not joking). Nick is in more than 10 studio bands and a couple of live bands on the west coast.

6. Where was your last gig?

We are a studio band, and we aren't concerned with shows or tours. We focus on making albums to the best of our abilities.

7. Whom would you like to feature with?

This music is for fans of raw death metal and grindcore.

8. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Drink whiskey, they call it liquid courage for a reason.

9. What bands have inspired you the most?

Mayhem, Bloodbath, Portal, Archgoat -Justin Vølus

10. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I can't recall anything really weird, most of our fans are really cool people. This is a niche sound.

11. What do you think of your fans?

Justin Vølus: Good people, the entire Vargheist Records fanbase is very cool people that have followed my work for 6 years.

It's professional.
