Interviews: Risingfall

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Heavy Metal band Risingfall from Japan. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band takes its name from the song Rise Or Fall by the American power metal band Leather Wolf.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Originally I was in a thrash metal band, where we were going for thrash metal with melodies, like Heathen or Paradox. From there I wanted to play more orthodox metal.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No, I met all my current band members after I started playing in bands. Only the vocalist, G Ito, was originally a friend on Twitter.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

I'm more like Renaissance, Genesis, Rainbow, Led Zeppelin, Neil Young... Yoshiki was Saxon, after all. G Ito, the vocalist, was into Kinniku Shoujo Tai, metal punk, Abigail, and Rainbow. Bassist Ishii played Anthem, Ningen-Isu, etc. Yuki, the drummer, has quite a wide range of tastes. ..... Black Metal and maybe Leather Wolf freak.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I write songs on a whim. I usually record riffs and melodies that occur to me on my iPhone and make songs from them. I end up listening to music to death, and from there, I guess, I make up my own interpretations of the songs. I get my inspiration from music.

6. Where was your last gig?

The last time you played live was with Bildungsphilister on 3 November. Both bands are new, but it was good to have a reasonable audience.

7. Where would you like to act?

We have a strong desire to play outside of Japan, but our biggest obstacle is the sea. Travel costs are tough.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

If Satan, Saxon or Vicious Rumors came to Japan, we would love to play with them. And Anthem, I'm afraid.

9. Whom not?

I can't think of any bands I wouldn't want to play with, although it would be tough if they were too extreme or something.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

I don't know if I've ever felt pressure to be on stage, it's not like I'm going to die. I've had opportunities in my life where I've been more nervous, so it's not as bad as that. .....

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The biggest influence on Risingfall's sound is maybe Rainbow. Ritchie Blackmore is a real genius, not only in technique, but also in songwriting. And maybe Riot and Sound Horizon in terms of melody.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Maybe being asked to sign CDs, I couldn't understand why they would want a band like us to sign their CDs.

13. What do you think of your fans?

For people who genuinely listen to and enjoy our music, we have nothing but gratitude. I'm a sneaky person, so I inevitably doubt that there are fans like that, but as long as people are buying our CDs, I'd like to believe that.

14. What do you think of our site?

It's great, there is actually no proper website in Japan to introduce underground metal. It's only small personal blogs. I'm very envious.

15. Something to add?

It's a long story, but thank you for reading to the end and for interviewing us, our first album will be released on 18 November, if you want to give it a listen!
