Interviews: A Titan, A Deity

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Progressive Metalcore band A Titan, A Deity from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Our vocalist Luke came up with the band name, initially, we thought it may be a good name for a Greek mythology-themed album, but over time the name grew on us and we decided it would make a better band name

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We all grew up listening to metal and its various subgenres and being a metalcore band allows us to be quite varied and you can be really flexible in terms of what you sound like.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Ash, Ben, and Luke were in a previous metalcore band together and we knew Alex from other bands in the scene at the time so we were quite close. We’d also gigged with some of Mitches previous bands before so we all knew each other fairly well before A Titan, A Deity which I think helps as we knew we all got on and had similar inspirations and goals.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Ben: Dayseeker

Luke: Emarosa

Ash: Wage War

Alex: Annisokay

Mitch: Tesseract

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We use a mix of quite personal inspiration as well as some more abstract sci-fi or pseudo religious inspiration for our songs. We want to create something that people can identify with, whether that be an emotion or an experience but also something where people can create and take their own meanings and interpretations of the songs.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was in Birmingham, UK supporting Exist Immortal with Inretrospect and local lads Awaken Eternity, it was a Halloween theme gig and yes we did dress up.

7. Where would you like to play?

We’d really like to play Manchester, Bristol or Southampton. They are some places in the UK we haven’t been yet. Otherwise, it’d be great to play some shows abroad at some point.

8. Who would you like to support?

It’d be a dream to be able to support some of our big inspirations like Tesseract, Dayseeker, etc and there are so many bands around the UK that we’d like to play with again like Borders, Arcaeon, Rosen Bridge

9. Who not?

We’re pretty open to playing with most bands really, as long as they are a good group of people.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I’m pretty sure we all have at various times of our musical careers. It definitely gets easier the more you play and put yourself out there, so that’s something we’d recommend, and try to remember that it's supposed to be fun for you and the audience and if you make a mistake not to worry about it (although that’s easier said than done, especially if you’re quite detail orientated like we are).

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

There are so many bands that have inspired us, but definitely, Architects and Tesseract have been two of the main ones. The raw emotion and power that some of Architects music has is amazing and we love all the ambient and technical arrangements in Tesseracts music, and those are two sides of what we try and balance in our music.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To sign stuff! It was crazy to us that people wanted us to sign EP’s or anything at our last release show.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Obviously, it goes without saying that we really love and appreciate the support that anyone who has continued with us over the years, particularly those who stuck with us during covid. That was such a horrible gap for us not being able to play shows and share that experience with people, and we’re so glad that when we are able to people were still interested in what we were doing and wanted to come to shows again

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s a great place to find out about new bands that you may not have heard of before. You never know who you’ll find or when you’ll find a new favorite and sites like yours are so important for helping people to find those! So thanks for having us!

15. Something to add?

Our new EP Descendant is coming out on the 18th of November, with lead single Revelations dropping on the 11th. It’s been a long time coming and we can’t wait for everyone to hear the new material that we worked so hard on covid we hope that you all enjoy it. Pre-save links are below, and we’re also having a pre-release show on the 12th of November, so if you’re near Birmingham UK then come and hang out with us!
