Interviews: Beneath The Embers

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal band, Beneath The Embers from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or came out just like that?

Originally, Clint's daughter came up with a variation presented to Spence, and then we tweaked it to form Beneath The Embers.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We’re all metalheads, but all have very eclectic tastes under that massive umbrella so we brought what we have individually to the melting pot and this is the result.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No, we have all met due to music and looking for local musicians.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Q (guitar): Iron Maiden

Clint (guitar): Metallica

Spence (drums): Alter Bridge

Liam (bass): Dream Theater

Lewy (vocals): Avenged Sevenfold

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Clint: This is different for everyone, but Lewy (vocals) draws lyrical inspiration from life and its struggles. Main riffs are born from Clint's process of improvisation and then usually spark an idea. This idea, with possible lyrics, forms a semblance of a simple structure. Q and Liam weigh in expanding the riffs and applying some theory, respectively, before we all nail down the general rhythm and get that flow right.

6. Where was your last gig?

Q: Ipswich, The Music Rooms. We were part of the DeadSouls festival amongst a lot of great local bands.

7. Where would you like to play?

Q: Brixton Academy, Wacken, Bloodstock, Wembley, The London Stadium. Not nec. in that order haha.

8. Who would you like to support?

Q: The greats like Maiden, Metallica, Anthrax. Of the new(er) breed, I think Killswitch or Trivium would be the pinnacle for us. Of the bands breaking through in recent years I really like Spirit Adrift, Unto Others, Code Orange.

9. Who not?

We’d consider supporting any band if the timing and exposure are right for us.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Q: Focus on the music. Sometimes the lights are so bright you can’t see anyone and I pretend they’re not there! The audience is there to see you, so once you stop shaking - give them a show!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Q: For me, it’s Fear Factory, Opeth, Strapping Young Lad. Purely based on awesome riffage and creating an atmosphere within the soundscapes.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing mad - yet.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They’re all beautiful specimens of the human race.

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s really good and is essential to give bands an outlet that maybe don’t have quite the reach for themselves.

15. Something to add?

Beneath The Embers + Dark & Storms = memory loss.
