Interviews: QUOR

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal/Rock band, QUOR from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

We were in that timeframe of a band's life when it was time to call ourselves something. We had all been in other bands and somewhat disliked the band naming process or requirement. One night, after smoking a fat bowl, Smitty was brainstorming ideas for a band name. It had to be short, easy to remember when drinking, if it started with a unique letter or something even better, had to stay away from 3-word band names and if the band name could have some sort of way to easily advertise and get impressions then that would be a perfect band name. Then it hit him.. what about just dropping the "L and I" off of the word LIQUOR to read QUOR. It's short, starts with a unique letter, and is in every brightly lit neon liquor store sign in the world, painted on the side of buildings and hoisted high in the air for all to see for free. Smitty brought it up at the next band practice with lackluster results. It sounded too forced until.... one foggy night on the Pacific Coast Highway a week or two later when Brian and his wife were driving home from a comedy show when out of the pea soup fog came a giant brightly lit sign that read QUOR, because the light bulbs had been burned out behind the letters L and I. Brian realized the coincidence, busted a U turn, and took a photo to send to Smitty where it was immediately agreed upon by both that by a twist of fate; QUOR was born.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

All 3 heads of the 3-headed dragon of rock, punk, and metal that is QUOR live ridiculous lives filled with plot twists, unique achievements, talents, and sorrow. Heavy metal is the genre that most suits all of us although every member has an infinite appreciation for all genres of music.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Nope

4. Each band member's favorite band?

This is an impossible question, but bands like Mastodon, Willie Nelson, Pink Floyd strike a chord.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life as we know it provides plenty of inspiration. Space, aliens, humans, behavioral science, and art, in general, provide limitless amounts of inspiration.

6. Where was your last gig?

The last show of the "Death Do Us Part Tour" w/ Sleep Signals ended in Phoenix on 12/11/22. It was a great night of rock n roll.

7. Where would you like to act?

In a space movie.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Sigourney Weaver

9. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Not fright, but adrenaline. Develop a pre-performance routine and stick to it. Breath, stretch, and get your mind right to go have fun on stage!

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

The bands who continue to push independently through the bog of vampires and snakes ready to take your money and do nothing for you.

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To scream in their ear while having sex like we scream on stage.

12. What do you think of your fans?

You mean QUORLords!?! They're the greatest fans on earth.

13. Something to add?

We appreciate what you do for artists and the industry. Thank you.
