Track By Tracks: Lacerated - The Vile Domain (2022)

LYRICS:

1. Agitator:

“Agitator” is about - you guessed it - an agitator in society provoking people's fears and angers; he supplies them with the tools they need to accomplish their goals.

2. Lacerated:

“Lacerated” is just an old school death metal song about a nondescript murderer kidnapping and torturing, slashing, killing the victims, and everything else he does to them.

3. Clone:

“Clone” is about biotechnology, science, and engineers losing control of their creation, being murdered by an army of clones; and all clones would be the same murder.

4. Grotesque:

“Grotesque” is basically about covid-19 and what it did to society politically, emotionally, and scientifically; also what it does to the human body.

5. Rellik:

“Rellik” - The title “rellik” is killer spelled backward (rellik with L s and a K). The idea came from a Turkish knockoff version of The Exorcist movie that was so bad it was funny. A Turkish exorcist and an adolescent girl are possessed by a demon and being ravaged physically, and transformed into a Hell spawn.

MUSIC:

1. Agitator:

Agitator has quite a bit in common with the more dissonant and atmospheric side of old-school New York-styled death metal, and some of the riffs played on the higher strings of the guitar give it a cold, almost black metal sound.

2. Lacerated:

This is the first song Lacerated wrote. Most of the riffs that make up the song are more thrash metal than death metal, just tuned lower than any thrash metal band ever dared.

3. Clone:

Clone is probably the most "atmospheric" song on the EP, and its sometimes jarring twists and turns perfectly complement the lyrical theme of losing control of something you created.

4. Grotesque:

This song is rife with tempo and stylistic changes. Everything from fast tremolo riffs to parts that resemble D-beat and hardcore to a bouncy, Demilich-inspired slower breakdown.

5. Rellik:

The last and longest song on the EP with the longest lead guitar break. This is likely the most "melodic" song, with quite a few harmonized parts and a few borderline traditional metal-sounding riffs. The end of the song is an extended, grinding, and torturous wrap-up for the EP.
