Interviews: Apollo

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Deathcore band, Apollo from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

I decided to call my project “Apollo” as he was the Greek god of music and poetry (among other things). I didn’t want to call myself something generic for metal and opted to keep it simple and adopt a short pseudo name.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Ever since I started playing metal I’ve wanted to expand on my horizons and write music that I thought was both interesting and technical. Metal music is amazing in that you can explore playing styles and music compositions on so many levels compared to other genres.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

In the beginning, Apollo was my own project 100%. Now, I think it’s safe to say that Adrian Parcioaga is as much a part of Apollo as I am – and it feels good! Adrian and I have been in Our Last Crusade together for years and have a fantastic relationship.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

In terms of heavy metal music, right now my favorite bands would have to be Fit For an Autopsy, Thy Art is Murder, Slice the Cake, and Periphery

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Whenever I pick up the guitar, I just start noodling. I almost never learn other people’s song, or even revisit my past songs. I just start playing. Sometimes I’ll riff on something that feels like it grabs me, and I take it from there! It all starts with a feeling or an indication that I can take a riff further.

6. Where was your last gig?

My last gig was with Our Last Crusade on January 13th, 2023 at Dickens Pub in Calgary, AB. For our Death Wins album release show coming out January 20th, 2023 via Shattered Earth Records.

7. Where would you like to act?

I would love to play shows all across Canada and fly over to Europe to play for those crazy metalheads across the ocean.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

I would love to feature with any of my fellows, talented Canadians! Our country has such great representation in music and I want to support it as much as possible!

9. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

A long time ago I used to have very minor stage fright at the beginning of each show. Legs are a little shaky, hands are a little stiff. After a song or two you get over pretty quick and just start having fun.

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

Everything from Megadeth and Testament, to Born of Osiris and Northlane. Music has been a lifelong journey for me. It ebbs and flows and I am always finding more music to be inspired by.

11. What do you think of your fans?

I am appreciative of every single person who listens to my music. Music will always be a part of my life and if fans listen to a track here or there along the way, I am a happy guy.

12. What do you think of our site?

Fucking brilliant.

13. Something to add?

Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your community. I appreciate the interview and if there is anything I can do for you on my end, please do not hesitate to contact me. Cheers!
