Interviews: Dargor

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Black Metal band, Dargor from Poland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

'Dargor' was just my nickname in all previous bands I've played. This band initially was a one-person project. So... I just called it like that!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I've always liked bands with aggressive vocals and melodic instruments. I love the connection between brutality and some kind of catchiness. Melodic black metal is a good genre to contain these elements. I'm also really into the atmosphere and sound of the black metal genre.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We were all friends and knew each other from our hometown. We were going to the same local shows and parties. We also played together in local bands. It was easy to complete this line-up and start playing in Dargor.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Our favourite bands are... Samael (Michał Kustra), Vesania (Dawid Warchoł), Immortal (Michał Socha), Dissection (Maciej Socha) and Arkona (RU, Damian Muszyński).

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The biggest inspirations are our favourite bands and metal music in general. Still, everything else can inspire us. Our thoughts, emotions and events around. I often get some musical ideas when I walk through the forest or mountains. When it's all quiet and I am close to nature. I record all my ideas on my phone and try to recreate them on guitar later.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was in Kraków, one of the most beautiful cities in Poland. We played in the Jazz Rock Caffe club (it's called "Jazz" but is very metal). The show was really fun to play! All bands gave nice shows and the people were great. Hope to be back there one day.

7. Where would you like to act?

Anywhere where there are fans of atmospheric and aggressive metal. The place does not matter. People and music are most important to us. It would be awesome to play anywhere outside Poland, but we don't have specific place preferences.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

When it comes to shows or tours. We'd like to play with any heavy and melodic metal bands whose style fits our style (at least quite a bit). Regarding some guest performances... I have a "hidden wishlist" of musicians but for now, let's keep it private!

9. Whom not?

I wouldn't like to play with bands or musicians whose style is completely different from ours. I think it's important when all elements in a band or a concert fit each other.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

I was a little scared at the beginning. The best advice is just to practise. The more shows you play, the more confident you become. After some time, it should become pure fun with zero stress. At least... it was like that in my case.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Our biggest inspirations are melodic black metal bands such as Samael, Dissection, Dimmu Borgir, Ajattara, Naglfar, Catamenia or Summoning. Still... We listen to a lot of music. A lot of metal bands from different subgenres. They're all part of our inspiration. I always liked melodic death metal bands like In Flames, Children of Bodom or Amorphis. You can also hear some elements inspired by them in our music.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I was invited to take part in some occult rituals (a few times). I thought It was a joke but some people are serious about it. I am not into this kind of "entertainment".

13. What do you think of your fans?

We appreciate all people who enjoy our music and support our band. It gives us a lot of motivation to continue what we do and create new material. To all people who show Dargor support... you're great guys!

14. What do you think of our site?

Your site is cool. People who read it can discover new music and bands. There are a lot of interesting groups in the underground. I think we need more sites like this to promote metal music all over the world.

15. Something to add?

Thank you so much for inviting us here! Greetings to everyone who reads this interview. Check out Dargor on Youtube and Spotify! If you enjoy aggressive and atmospheric music you may like our project. Have a nice day and live with passion!
