Interviews: Mantikore

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Deathcore band, Mantikore from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their WEBSITE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name initially didn't have any meaning, but it came to represent the metaphor of a beast as a man (The creature "Manticore" has the body of an animal but the face of a man), which ties into some of our lyrical content.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Most of us in the band have been listening to extreme metal since middle school, and so it came naturally. We're very passionate about the genre and were fortunate enough to meet each other and start this project.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Gabe (guitar/backup vox) and Lucas (guitar) had known each other for about a year prior to the band's inception. Mantikore began when Luca (drum/vox) met Lucas in his freshman year of high school.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

It's very hard for us to pick 1 favorite each but here's a list:

Lucas - Maximum the Hormone

Luca - Intestine Baalism

Gabe - Early Suicide Silence

Andres - The Number 12 Looks Like You

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Our music is an outlet for our emotions and feelings regarding that around us

6. Where was your last gig?

A venue warehouse in Miami

7. Where would you like to act?

Houston, Texas This is hardcore FYA Japan, hopefully, one day

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Vomit Forth, Tracheotomy

9. Whom not?

Taylor Swift

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

We've all experienced it a little, but it lessens with each show. For beginners; just think of it like you're practicing. It always gets easier with time

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Vomit Forth, early Cryptopsy, early Suicide Silence, Omerta, Old school metallic hardcore, and deathcore from the 90s and early 2000s.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We haven't been asked anything particularly weird. Yet.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Most of them are awesome and we're very thankful for the support we've gotten recently, but some are annoying kids with a peanut brains.

14. What do you think of our site?

It's cool, a lot of solid up-and-coming bands

15. Something to add?

Thank you for the opportunity! For anyone who likes our music, we have more coming soon and a few shows being announced for later this year.
