Interviews: Vick LeCar's Gallus Rex

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock/Blues Rock band, Vick LeCar's Gallus Rex from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it, or come out just like that?

We needed a name for the band that will literally relate to our time and place, as I said prior in the interview about the storm, Reuben really likes chickens, he collected exotic chickens, and roosters, so we threw a bunch of names around, and it just came to my mind about being a rooster king, it came to my mind in English first but it sounded too over flattering ourselves, so I stopped and think, I figure it out if I do the same name in Latin it would sound different and read differently as well, Gallus Rex, it sounds pretty cool, we looked at each other and said, Gallus Rex? let it be Gallus Rex.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It is the music that I identified with since I was a child, since I first heard Led Zepplin, it is in my veins body, and soul.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Reuben Williams and I know each other for a few years but we never worked together until now, the bass player Jonathan Cujo Limjoco has been in my band for four years, Eric Bolivar (drums) did a live gig with me and we hired him to do the EP. Nick and Vegas came highly recommended by friends.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

This is a hard question, we are all working musicians everyone plays all types of music, from A to Z, Let's see. Reuben Williams Deep Purple, Rainbow, Ritchie Blackmoore. My favorite bands of all time are Led Zepplin, Deep Purple, Aerosmith, and Whitesnake. Jonathan Limjuco / Cujo (bass) Judas Priest and The Mavericks. Eric Bolivar, Earth Wind And Fire, and Rush.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life and music itself are something I can't do without it just came very naturally, life is a song everything I hear and see is a song.

6. Where was your last gig?

The last time I played live was last night at a small but very cool place called The Spotlight in Metairie LA, I got invited to play on February 17th is going to be Gallus Rex's first live show.

7. Where would you like to act?

I would like to act as Dracula in a major movie or a really bad guy I'm tired of being a good guy HAHAHAHAH! I would like to play everywhere, especially in Europe and South America, especially Chile.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

There are a few but if I was to dream and pick one right now it would be Aerosmith!

9. Whom not?

Well, at this time I'm not interested in playing with many others anyway, I have my own music band and other project brewing, so this question is a bit hard for me to answer, I love music in general, expertly or beginner-like played.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Stage fright is a natural thing, it happens usually at the beginning of our careers, I believe that everyone has some kind of nervousness or butterflies when you get on stage even after years of performing just a normal thing, the tip for others, what makes you strive and do better on stage is the use of that energy, learn to channel your nervousness, shyness fear to kick ass, let the music take over, for better performance instead of running away from it, is the old flight or fight saying, just FIGHT!, let the monster come out and grow, it will take over, everyone wants to see a good performance, be hard on yourself and the world will be easier on you.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Definitely, Led Zepplin, Deep Purple, Aerosmith, Dio, and Whitesnake.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Well, the usual things but they are not weird, at least not anything I would consider weird.

13. What do you think of your fans?

I'm a fan of theirs as well. I love the connection between them, and with my music is a feeling of unity and an entity of itself. Nothing but love and respect!

14. What do you think of our site?

I like it, Red is my favorite color. very professional.

15. Something to add?

Thank you for your interest in music and for the great questions! hope to see you all live! wishing you all the best Cheers! Vick LeCar LIFE IS SHORT ROCK HARD!
