Interviews: F/E/A

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Instrumental Noise Rock/Post-Rock band, F/E/A from Spain. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band name is the acronym of Forces Elèctriques d'Andorra which is the power company of Andorra, a little country in the frontier between Catalonia and France. We always loved the sound of it: Electric Forces of Andorra. The acronym also means "ugly" in Spanish, so...

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

In the beginning, we were more raw, primitive, and noisy, but the post-rock, post-metal vein has been making its way since then and now we feel like something in between those genres.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Some of us did, and some don't. We feel that we have never been as united as we are now. We've learned to make it easy to be around each other.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Each one of us comes from a different scene. Some, like Joan, are now really into free jazz, ambient, and really experimental and weird stuff. Others, like Tomeu, are into first-wave black metal bands. Vicenç comes from the hardcore-punk scene, Arturo from punk, and David who knows where (mostly post-metal, sludge, etc...).

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Hard to say. We all come from different backgrounds and all that ends up shaping our songs in some way.

6. Where was your last gig?

In Menorca, with our friends Fornaris.

7. Where would you like to act?

Anywhere. We feel comfortable in any kind of space and with any kind of audience, as long as we can play loudly.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Have no answer to that. The best thing about playing in a band is the people you get to know on the road.

9. Whom not?

No fucking nazis, please.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

The show at Primavera Sound was really scary and full of sound problems due to the rush to go onstage without a proper soundcheck. It was a shame but we learned a lot of it.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Swans, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Oranssi Pazuzu, Russian Circles, Mono, Boris...

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We are shy and inscrutable men. We don't interact with fans.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Wich fans?

14. What do you think of our site?

Cool questions, mate.

15. Something to add?

Stay nice and fuck fascism.
