Interviews: Nothing Sacred

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Thrash Metal/Speed Metal band, Nothing Sacred from Australia. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We got the name nothing Sacred back in 1983 and it was given to us by a friend of ours Phil Crouch. We were called Heresy and Vengeance before Nothing Sacred but those names just didn’t grab us. We just needed to be called something as we were already gigging

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Nothing Sacred started in the early 80s and has always been a heavy band. Karl and I were very much into the punk scene and metal bands like Motorhead, Tank, etc.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

This lineup now is different from the original but we’ve all pretty much known each other from the 80s as we were all playing in bands around the Melbourne metal scene at the time

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Stark; Alice In Chains Sham; Car Bomb Karl; Eluveitie Stu; Alter Bridge George; Exhorder

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The honest question to that was no one. We all had different musical tastes back then plus it never incurred to us to write like our favorite bands. We just wrote tracks and hoped that people liked them.

6. Where was your last gig?

Churches of Steel in Adelaide

7. Where would you like to act?

We would love to go back to Japan, or do Wacken or Hellfest.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Angelwitch, Raven, anyone from the NWOBHM era, or anyone else that would have us ;)

9. Whom not?

Megadeth because they canceled the gig on us in the ’80s

10. Any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Not really though Australia is a pretty small scene nowadays

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

In the beginning, I’d have to say Motorhead, Raven, Tank, The Exploited, Anvil, Angelwitch, Venom, and the whole NWOBHM. Looking at my list they all seem to be English

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

An autograph

13. What do you think of your fans?

In Australia, they’re all our friends. It's a humbling feeling to have people like what we do and we’re really appreciative of that.

14. What do you think of our site?

Your site is awesome, and even more so having us on here too

15. Something to add?

Sure, It’s not an easy thing being a band here in Australia. We’re so far away from everyone that it makes touring rather difficult
