Interviews: Stryfe

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal band, Stryfe from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Stryfe comes from the word “strife” which means conflict, discord, quarrel, struggle, etc. The core ideology of the songs has centered around inner struggle and finding a means to overcome and grow, so the word felt appropriate.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We all feel a strong sense of affinity for the metal genre. As kids, this is the genre that inspired us to really start playing. There’s a certain energy in metal music that is very distinct and very appealing to us.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We mostly know one another because of our membership in the group. The exception is Dero, our drummer. Dero was a good friend of the group prior to joining. Our previous drummer, left the group because he had to relocate, Dero was an easy replacement because we already knew we get along great and he’s a terrific musician.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Sergio: Tool

Kay: Death

Karo: Opeth

Dero: Gojira

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Lots of things inspire us, honestly. It could be other music we hear that inspires us to play, it could be the people around us and the things they’re going through, the general situation the world we’re in and our surroundings, literature, and art, etc.

6. Where was your last gig?

The World Famous Whisky A Go-Go in Los Angeles, CA.

7. Where would you like to act?

Anywhere with good sound and interested ears. We’re not too picky!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Couldn’t say anyone specifically. We welcome any situation where our music is a service to the audience, other groups, and the greater genre.

9. Whom not?

I suppose situations that would be the opposite.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Sure, it’s one of those situations where “the way out is through”. You just have to keep your head on straight, keep your fear in check, and perform as well as you know you can. Once you get through the first song, the rest is easy.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The same ones we mentioned earlier in our “favorites” list, but we can certainly add the following to name a few: Porcupine Tree, Symphony X, Dream Theatre, and System of a Down.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Those are the kind of stories we’d be happy to share over a beer rather than a public interview.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They’re terrific! They give us the energy and motivation we need to do our best work and keep our group going. They have our utmost love and gratitude.

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s wonderful. We’re so glad that there are resources like your site out there to help people find out about so much great music. Thank you for the work that you do.

15. Something to add?

We’re excited to note that we have signed with Wormholedeath and will be re-releasing our debut Album “Cursed Theatre” through them in April 2023.
