Interviews: WULFSKOL

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Death-Punk band, WULFSKOL from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it, or came out just like that?

David: I was talking to Zike, our guitar player, on the phone about wanting to get a band together that had a Misfits/Samhain element to it and wanted him to help me build it. It was something I needed to do and Zike was someone who understood those dynamics. I told him I thought Wolf Skull would be a cool name but didn’t want a two word name so I just mashed it up into a hybrid of those words. The umlaut was my nod to Motörhead. I thought it would be really killer to have a backbone of “Earth AD” mixed with death and thrash metal.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Shane: We have all dabbled in other genres of extreme music and had our share of different extreme metal bands but what we have going in Wulfskol is basically a tribute to the sounds that kept us obsessed with this music.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Shane: Yea, we have all known each other for 20+ years. David and Zike have played in other bands together before this.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Shane: Favorite bands, eh that is kind of hard to narrow down for all of us. However, Wulfskol is influenced by bands such as Misfits, Possessed, Slayer, Venom, Samhain, Motorhead, etc.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

David: Lyrically, it is usually dark and Satanic themes. I would have to say that musically we play/ write what sounds good to us combining all the influences mentioned in the question above.

6. Where was your last gig?

Shane: Our last gig was here in town with some killer local bands, Oath of Cruelty, Kill the Lizard, Thundertank, and the Lunatics. It was at a cool DIY type of venue here called THE END.

7. Where would you like to perform?

Shane: Honestly, anywhere we can get. Regardless if it is here in the states or across the pond.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Shane: Support on another Samhain reunion tour would be killer.

9. Whom not?

Shane: Any band that has “Core” attached to their description.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Shane: It has been a while since we were at that stage, best tip would probably be to practice the way you perform and keep at it.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Shane: This was answered above.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Shane: In this band, nothing weird but I have been asked to sign prosthetic limbs.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Shane: Our fans are great, they show their support as often as possible by buying merch, going to shows, and promoting us on their social media accounts. The fans at a live show that go insane in the pit and have a good time always resonates with me.

14. What do you think of our site?

Shane: from what I have seen so far it is very well put together.

15. Something to add?

Shane: We Appreciate the opportunity for the interview. Also, be on the lookout for the BURN WITH US split ep with Hexella on Goat Throne Records. As well as a music video coming out before the album is released. Cheers!
