Interviews About Albums: Emetropia - Equinox (2023)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Swedish Symphonic Metal band Emetropia to ask some questions about their latest album "Equinox"

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

This is our attempt to recreate our most beloved songs from our debut album “Equinox” by playing them in musical styles we had never played before. The result? Four unique takes on symphonic metal.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

The name is both a reference to our 10-minute song “His Final Endeavor” but also summarizes what this EP is for us; an acoustic endeavor!

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

Liam and Olle had the main responsibility for the music and Lisa is the lyricist.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

Difficult question! It really could be any of the songs, but if I must pick one, I’d go with “A Gentle Breeze”. Got a really cool jazzy vibe to it with some of Lisa’s best vocal performances.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

Not directly. However, I do think the EP illustrates that a good song can still sound good when you give it a completely different production, and perhaps give listeners a new perspective on it.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

“It’s a balance which must not be disturbed” from The Old Gods – Requiem. Why? Listen to the album and you’ll understand hehe.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank specially?

Musically, we’ve taken inspiration from Epica and their acoustic versions of metal songs but also several Swedish pop/rock acts like Weeping Willows, First Aid Kit, and Mando Diao. You need to pick up some tricks from the pros of acoustic music if you plan to do it yourself. Also, massive thanks to Jonathan Rosso (1017 music) for feedback on the mixes and great work with the mastering.

8. Something to add?

If you are ready for one last ride of the Equinox saga, then this EP will take you to there in style.
