Interviews: Segmentia

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Pop Metal band, Segmentia from Finland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or did it come out just like that?

In our music, we are combining several different music styles with metal. Those differences are like segments, so that is Segmentia!

2. Why did you want to play this genre? 

In this case, it is more about that what I can do rather than what I want to do. This music is the kind of music that I know how to make, so this is what you get, haha!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Actually yes, I have known all the current members of the band before they joined.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Only one? Uh oh... One of my favorites is “Dimmu Borgir” and Matti loves “Pain” atm. I guess Arttu listens to some suspicious Finnish ug rap and Kansana listens “Danheim” a lot.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

Usually, I start with a melody. Music always comes first, then I listen to what the song wants to tell me. Stories are inspired by life in general. But I do often get inspired when I go to nature, so nature itself could be my muse.

6. Where was your last gig?

In January, we played a few gigs here in Finland. Next week we are on stage again, woohoo!

7. Where would you like to perform?

We dream about being an international band, so we would like to play almost everywhere!

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

It would be so cool to open up for Amorphis one day.

9. Whom not?

I don’t know. Maybe we could play with everyone, then.

10. Have any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I don’t think that anyone of us truly suffers from fear. Of course, that can be a tuff place, with lots of pressure and what-ifs. Our tip is that one needs to breathe. If u skip that it’s not going to go well. Be yourself, do not try to be someone else on the stage. I think the worst way to be on stage is not to be interested in the audience. So being afraid and interested is 100% better than being fearless and couldn’t give a ****.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

I think that in those times when I was writing the Alone-EP songs I listened to lots of bands like Thirty Seconds to Mars, Paramore, Porcupine Tree, and Devin Townsend just to mention a few. But did music listening have an influence on Segmentia’s music? If so, it had to be a subconscious thing.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I cannot think of any truly weird thing. Maybe that is yet to come!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Everyone who listens to our music and shows up for a live show makes this worth everything! Without these people we are nothing

14. What do you think of our site?

It is so cool that one can find so easily some new music and bands to listen to! Keep up the good work.
