Interviews About Albums: Overhead - Telepathic Minds (2023)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Finnish Progressive Rock band Overhead to ask some questions about their latest album "Telepathic Minds"

1. What can you say about this new album called "Telepathic Minds"?

Overhead's new double album Telepathic Minds is our most ambitious album yet. We are really happy about how it turned out. It's a very versatile album showing many sides of the band. It's perhaps our most progressive album and features many long and epic tracks. It's our first album to be available also on Vinyl, it's a double LP and a double CD.

2. What is the meaning of "Telepathic Minds"?

As I understand it, it's about mankind collectively repeating its own mistakes and going around these vicious cycles.

3. Which one is the composer of this album?

I'm the main songwriter. I write the music and put together the structures of the songs and make the basic arrangements. Alex then writes all his vocal melodies and lyrics on top the demos that I've done. The other members arrange their own parts and bring in new ideas and so improve the songs. Everyone's input affects everything else so in the end it's a group effort.

4. If you have to pick one song, which one would you pick?

I really love the opening track and the second video and single War To End All Wars. Everything just came together perfectly on that song.

5. Are there some lyrics that you ́d love to share?

I've always admired Alex's lyrics, they fit the music perfectly. Like this bit from Planet Of Disorder:

"Rendered a million times
Now finally done
We're having fun
I feel it, it's real
Explain to me
How can it be so clean
It's borderline inferno"

6. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

I'd like to thank my friend Markus Halonen who built me a David Gilmour model Stratocaster guitar which inspired the writing and was used when recording certain parts of the title track Telepathic Minds.

7. Something to add?
