The new King Riarl,
accompanied by some of his army and civilians, is exploring the previously undiscovered lands
in the east of his kingdom. The album tells of various quests during this campaign and of events
in the royal capital of Therallas during the king's absence.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">It's an epic and melodic Black Metal opus, balanced with light and dark atmospheres. The
artwork is a digital painting by the amazing Aleksandra Klepacka, in which you can see one of
the two mages present in the world of Belore, returning to Therallas (you can see a small part of
the great fortified city at the top) after several centuries of disappearance. You'll hear more of
this story in the track "The Hermit Awakens". Once again, I wanted to have a "concept art" cover
that wasn't based on the usual graphic codes for epic/atmospheric black metal bands.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><u>1. To the Eastern Lands:</u></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">It's an intro to set the tone for the album. I had this theme in my head since the composition of
Artefacts, so it was natural for me to do something with this epic melody.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><u>2. Sons of the Sun:</u></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">The album opens with this bright and folky song featuring Ella Zlotos on the tin whistle (as well as
other songs on the album). The track starts with a cheerful atmosphere but quickly turns into an
epic black metal tone with lead guitars and lead synthesizer, which introduces the main melody
that will be the grand finale of the song. You can also find spoken parts, which are more present
in this album, to support the storytelling.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">The story is about an elite armed group called the "Sons of the Sun", who are close to the king
during the exploration of the campaign. They are on a secret mission to retrieve the last egg of
Endraïl, the dragon that destroyed Endeor centuries ago. Endraïl's lair is guarded by a group of
fanatics who worship the dragon, whose skin and some of its flesh have been scorched by
nearby volcanic activity. This makes them impervious to most physical pain. The main objective
of this mission is still a secret.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><u>3. Storm of an Ancient Age:</u></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">On this track, you can follow the beginning of the exploration of the campaign from the point of
view of the Royal Navy. The mission was divided into two convoys: one leaving Therallas by
land with the king, and another by sea with ships. The sea passage to the east was always
impossible due to a constant magical storm, which would calm down enough to allow the
crossing, but never stop. After several adventures, part of the fleet has managed to land and
can now explore this new country.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">You'll find various ambient sounds in this title, each one accompanying the place or events
being narrated. The first chorus also has a 'pirate' feel to it, emphasizing the maritime
exploration aspect. I've tried to divide the track into 4 parts: the start of the mission, the storm,
the calm afterward, and the thrill of discovery.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><u>4. The Hermit Awakens:</u></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">This title is directly related to the album cover. Erethor, a mage who has been missing since the
fall of Endeor, is actually hiding in the Eastern Lands. The arrival of Riarl and the recent events
in Therallas, with the seizure of power by his former fellow mage Denelïor, force him to come
out of his isolation.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">The atmosphere here is more forest and natural. The first part of the track has a dark folk feel,
with a combination of deep vocals, acoustic guitars, and folk instruments. This track is more
'cinematic' than the others, the immersion is more present and I wanted to try my hand at
orchestral composition in the passage before the final chorus, without going too far of course.
But it works well and gives the whole thing a cinematic feel.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><u>5. Denelïor’s Betrayal:</u></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">Here, for the first time on Belore, we find an interlude. I've always wanted to add a touch of
dungeon synth to one of my albums, as 90s black metal remains my main influence! This track
really marks the change in mood of the album's music and story, as everything becomes darker
and more dramatic. Denelïor has just taken power from Therallas, while the king, Riarl, is
absent. It's as if we're in his laboratory as he prepares his betrayal.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><u>6. Battle for Therallas:</u></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">Now we come to the main plot of the album, the battle for the Therallas cover. Upon hearing the
news of the putsch, King Riarl interrupts his campaign to return to his lands and reclaim his city.
He is accompanied by Lynna, daughter of the ruling family of Emmera, the city that has been an
enemy of Therallas for several centuries. Now allied, they will fight together to drive out the new
magical cult that is rampaging through the capital.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">This track is darker, more black metal, and less folk than the rest of the album. The tone is
serious, the stakes are high and I wanted to convey the tension the knights might feel in the
face of this epic battle. That's why I chose this track for the promotional video for the album because even though it's not very representative musically, it's very strong visually. Making the
video was a very difficult and daunting experience, but the challenge was met!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><u>7. The Rise of a Sovereign:</u></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">After a fierce battle and the escape of Denelïor, Riarl returns to his city, shaken by recent
events. Scarred by the sequence of his coronation, the campaign of exploration, and the
confrontation with his own subjects who betrayed him, he is deeply despondent. Standing atop
the highest tower of his castle, he looks out over his still-smoldering city and realizes the reality
of his status. He had gone from young king to ruler all too quickly.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">This track closes the album with a touch of drama mixed with hope. In terms of composition, it's
a return to our roots and influences like Summoning and Caladan Brood, which you can hear a
lot more of on my first album while keeping slightly different riffs like the airy passage right after
the chorus at the end, which is not usual in this kind of very typical composition.</span></div>Screamerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06034179250272473145noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4316176257979096997.post-15257313623731912912024-03-18T12:11:00.000-07:002024-03-18T12:11:16.020-07:00Behind The Tracks: Designer Disguise - Boom Boom Pow (Cover)<div style="text-align: justify;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghJyFwegvmyKwcsQYFRVyHm-5IuOuL_o65bDZjS3RWD__wxLo0pabNDhLcCO_3jcSi6yTu-xdlZMABqWZzKO_z9bayL8P3SeFbpTSAUykJgVH8XQ0cJJQLRI9FPGtCk0f07cCX8KZWxT9F-9iPvCk5m082NnVkMvV04j6dl-zJm5aFRk-0Yk13I4nDDI-m/s1180/3k5CQLK-.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1180" data-original-width="1180" height="641" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghJyFwegvmyKwcsQYFRVyHm-5IuOuL_o65bDZjS3RWD__wxLo0pabNDhLcCO_3jcSi6yTu-xdlZMABqWZzKO_z9bayL8P3SeFbpTSAUykJgVH8XQ0cJJQLRI9FPGtCk0f07cCX8KZWxT9F-9iPvCk5m082NnVkMvV04j6dl-zJm5aFRk-0Yk13I4nDDI-m/w641-h641/3k5CQLK-.jpeg" width="641" /></a></div><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">This cover is the one we had the most fun constructing. It wasn’t planned when we went into the studio and we decided with our producer Hiram Hernandez that this one would be super fun and dynamic. As a pop song I never really vibed with it, but the changes we made sonically and in terms of arrangement make this a super awesome ride. Not only did we cover the main song but we finagled G6 by The Far East Movement and The Cataracts, The Bad Touch by The Bloodhound Gang, and Du Hast by Rammstein into the song as well. We even translated some of the lyrics from Boom Boom Pow into German over one section. Hopefully we didn’t get duped by google translate and our German actually translates to what we wanted. We sat in the studio trying to pronounce the German words for 15 minutes before I recorded it. People are going to have a blast with this pop metal mash up, I would def dance to it at an emo nite.</span></div>

The lyrics deal with time passing us by, looking back to your youth and the fragility of life.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><u><br /></u></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><u>4. We are very proud of this one… this is something different for us .. it has an arrangement akin to Ozzy’s Killer of Giants … using the classical guitar to play the first verse and then moving the same chord progression onto the electric guitars. I think the music and lyrics on this really paint a picture… the song is about getting back to nature …leaving the fast-paced craziness of modern society behind and being at one with the animals, the landscape, the lakes, and streams … the message is to look to nature for the answers and to cleanse the soul.. this will also be a single with accompanying video.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><u>5. Sky is Falling:</u></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">This is the fastest track on the album.. not thrash fast… more like Dio's “We Rock” .. the song is straightforward in arrangement only broken up by a great guitar & drum break in the middle. The chorus is another catchy one and the lyrics are about stepping out of your comfort zone and no matter what happens…. Love and hope will prevail</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><u>6. Reborn:</u></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">This is the darkest song on the album… building from an Alice in Chains / Black Label Society vibe into an almost Viking metal crescendo with some tasty guitar solos. The lyrics doting the dark theme deal with alienation from the family .. this is a personal theme for me… and when you don’t feel you belong you can find a family amongst music and fellow outcasts and enthusiasts</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><u>7. Raging Waters:</u></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">This is another single from the album and shows a different side of the band… it’s kind of a Lynyrd Skynyrd meets Aerosmith track… starting with some slide and 12-string guitar and has a real classic rock feel. The song is about sitting up late at night and having conversations with those who have passed on…. A kind of spiritual seance that connects us with those beyond this mortal coil. We have some guests on this track and sing some backing vocals, piano violin, and viola.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><u>8. Over and Over:</u></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">This song mixes Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac-esque acoustic guitars with some punchy Aerosmith verses and morphs into some King Diamond-style guitar harmonies … it’s a strange combination but we feel it works well and ties together our broad tastes and influences .. the song is a personal one and recounts the tale of when I relocated from Australia to the UK with my band as teenagers…. Many years ago … we were young and didn’t have a clue but we were brave and tried our best and had an amazing adventure.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><u>9. No Saint:</u></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">This is the album's closer .. this song is full of surprises… it opens like something you hear sitting in a French cafe … the lyrics continue the theme from the previous song recounting the adventures of young teens moving from Australia to the UK as 18-year-olds.. we got super ambitious with this song breaking it into two parts… there is an acoustic interlude branding the two… there are some gospel vocals rounding out the outro after some fiery guitar solos and harmonies …. Like the debut we wanted the album to close with something special and we hope listeners will appreciate that...</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">From the album opener to the closer we have tried to cover as much of what we love about music, trying to execute all of this as best we can and stay true to our passion.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">Will it connect with listeners …. Only time will tell.</span></div>Screamerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06034179250272473145noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4316176257979096997.post-46240420358586850582024-03-17T22:28:00.000-07:002024-03-17T22:28:52.249-07:00We Broke The Weather - Marionette (Single) (2024)<p> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLmHGEluuhqaaUhy1UqMtprfteA6CxdIL5VKaB7SWM9lvq626kzY9NzNFWzqrHMWu5M2HEaYOO442plhn0QQ-ITpBT3TWNo6rmIrbkoXMPZFFVOnduyElXIDanf9qN-hsEtZ1BnLtT5x3s302R8Vbi43RmFRRuO2g3OdUcyaALgWRsh2KpWQMl6u-e307f/s700/0035334586_10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="700" data-original-width="700" height="629" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLmHGEluuhqaaUhy1UqMtprfteA6CxdIL5VKaB7SWM9lvq626kzY9NzNFWzqrHMWu5M2HEaYOO442plhn0QQ-ITpBT3TWNo6rmIrbkoXMPZFFVOnduyElXIDanf9qN-hsEtZ1BnLtT5x3s302R8Vbi43RmFRRuO2g3OdUcyaALgWRsh2KpWQMl6u-e307f/w629-h629/0035334586_10.jpg" width="629" /></a><br /><br /></p>

I think at one point we were close to calling ourselves SNAKS based on our names. We landed on ‘we broke the weather’ in large part due to a period where it felt like every night we got together to play the weather was crummy or abnormal in some way. There was also the whole climate change aspect of it, but we didn’t want to come off as overly serious or preachy, so this was our attempt at being a bit tongue-in-cheek. We’ll let you decide if we were successful in that.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Kev DiTroia:</b> This is not a joke, Nick.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Steve Muscari: </b>I floated Tomato Aorta, Taint Blister, and Gecko Sex Satellite—to name a few—but none of them seemed to stick for some reason.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><br /></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Scott Wood:</b> Hearing these alt names again is making me second-guess we broke the weather. Too late to change?</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Andrew Clark: </b>"we broke the couch" is still on the table.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>2. Why did you want to play this genre?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>NC: </b>We came together with a lot of different influences and genres that we gravitate towards, so it was sort of like assembling a large Venn diagram and seeing where there was overlap among the 5 of us. It turns out that even though we all have our own things that we feel strongly about, there’s a lot of music out there that we all dig. So we kinda just threw all of it into a blender and worked out some music that felt like a summation of those parts. It just so happens that when you do that and have a propensity for writing longer songs it tends to get categorized as “prog.”</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>KD: </b>Yeah, prog seems to cover the blend of stuff we’ve been playing from a technical perspective, but it’s fun to let loose and lean into the garage side of things when possible. The “garage prog” tag feels like an escape from the (sometimes) snotty complexities of prog without going too conventionally “rock”. Hey hey, my my.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>SM: </b>Hah, these guys will bend over backward to say we’re not prog rock. I love prog rock. That’s why I play prog rock in a prog rock band.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>AC: </b>A big strength of the band is our diversity of influences, which impacts the evolution of ideas that individuals have into a finished product that everyone’s put their spin on. There are elements that are jazzy, jammy, sludgy, indie-y, mathy, proggy… There’s some intentionality behind it but it’s also a product of combining the different perspectives we bring.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><br /></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>NC: </b>None of us knew each other before the band. We’re probably the best advertisement for Craigslist out there because that’s how we found each other. Andy and I were the first ones to connect shortly after I moved up to the Boston area from NYC, and we bonded over jazz and math rock and even joined an Ethiopian jazz combo for a bit. We knew we wanted to form an original rock band though, so we went back to Craiglist and somehow found Scott and Kev around the same time. It just so happened we were all around the same age and in similar life situations, so we quickly gelled. Steve would come in about a year later once we had written a few songs and decided we needed a bass player to hold down the low end, but he also fit in seamlessly into the group.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>4. Each band member's favorite band?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>NC:</b> Ask me on a different day and I’ll probably give you a different answer. My fallback is The Dear Hunter just because I think they perfected a kind of prog rock that is complex while still being accessible and immediate. That’s kind of the model that I’ve personally tried to follow in what I write, even if most of it goes in a completely different direction from them.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>KD: </b>Right now it has to be Gizzard or Osees. I think John Dwyer revolutionized the garage prog concept.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>SM:</b> Gonna have to go with The Physics House Band.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>SW:</b> For me, currently, The Smile.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>AC: </b>Lately… Invalids, Tubelord, Johnny Foreigner, Signals, TTNG, Nickel Creek’s latest. And some stuff I should have left behind in high school, but sorry-not-sorry, Counting Crows still holds up.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>NC: </b>Eh…the world? I dunno, I feel like it’s just become so difficult to navigate the modern world without either becoming an anxious and depressed mess or completely inoculating yourself with mindless entertainment. So I draw most of my inspiration from my own struggles with simple existence and whatever is making me feel strongly in one direction or another. The good news is that when you’re chronically depressed that turns out to be a well you can return to again and again.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>SW: </b>Honestly, it’s tough to pin down but “the world,” broadly, is certainly true for me as well. The truth is, I tend to have a pretty active imagination so, often, I draw inspiration from seemingly mundane or random observations about the world around me. When this happens, my mind latches onto some specific thought and I begin to imagine a story around it. Occasionally, I’ll feel inspired enough to write that down and, more often than not, although these are largely fictional stories, there tend to be lines of connection to my own life or experience, which ends up making them feel a bit more personal than I might have intended. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>AC:</b> My interests and inspirations ebb and flow. Sometimes I’m cramming in as many unexpected twists and turns as I can. When that starts to feel too much, I’ll want to write something simpler. Then it swings back the other way… So having the rest of the band as a “filter” is helpful in coming up with a finished product that is true to the original idea but also true to the group as a whole.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>6. Where was your last gig?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>NC: </b>As of the time writing this our last gig was July 4 of last year at The Middle East in Cambridge. We took a long break after that so we could finish writing the new album and record it. Then Andy became a new dad, so we were on hiatus through most of the fall into winter. By the time this comes out, we’ll have probably played our return show at The Bang! Space around Boston. It’s a DIY basement venue managed by our friends in the excellent “doombrass” band Eight Foot Manchild. The DIY/basement scene has been really flourishing the past few years here in Boston as it’s becoming harder and harder to find quality venues for small bands thanks to gentrification and rampant greed shutting down places.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>7. Where would you like to act?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>NC: </b>We want to take the new material on the road a bit and spread out to some good spots through the northeast US, so Portland, Burlington, NYC, etc. Honestly, we’re happy for any place that’ll take us through.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>SW:</b> I’m a big fan of outdoor gigs so, in addition to lining up some solid venues throughout the northeast, snagging a little festival slot, outdoor beer garden, or something similar would be a lot of fun.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>8. Whom would you like to feature with?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>NC: </b>We’ve built some good connections with bands in the psych and stoner rock scenes here like Clamb, The Rupert Selection, FEEP, Eight Foot Manchild, Sundrifter, and others. So we’re always happy to play with any of those groups. Beyond that, I’d love to play with someone like Bent Knee at some point as I think they’ve got a similar approach to “prog” as us while arriving at a completely different destination.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>9. Whom not?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>NC:</b> Nazis, transphobes, and other decidedly unchill people.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>SW: </b>Tough to argue with that. Chill people only, please.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>NC: </b>I absolutely hate public speaking and pretty much any sort of public performance outside of music. Music’s always been the one place I have no trouble just living in the moment and letting go of that fear and anxiety though. If you’ve played enough times together it’s easy to just imagine it’s like any other practice session, only with positive feedback from the audience.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><br /></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>KD:</b> If I’m nervous about muffing an overly mathy part (and therefore getting made fun of by my friends), 2 PBRs usually do the trick to calm those nerves. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>SM:</b> With the amount of gear we typically need to set up before line check, there’s no time for stage fright.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>AC:</b> Not so much stage fright, but there are absolutely sections of our songs where I have to put myself on autopilot and get through it. For the most part, we just go out there and have a good time.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>11. What bands have inspired you the most?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><br /></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>NC: </b>Aside from The Dear Hunter, I’ve been inspired largely by bands in the space between jazz, rock, and beyond like Tortoise, Jaga Jazzist, Portico Quartet, etc. Those groups are just so unbelievably tight and wide-ranging in their sound that it constantly pushes me to challenge myself.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><br /></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>SM:</b> Beyond The Physics House Band, The Mars Volta, Mahavishnu Orchestra, and other bands that generally try to decapitate their listeners with sound, I’ve been drawing a lot of inspiration lately from artists like Lisa Bella Donna, Suzanne Ciani, and Laurie Spiegel. Lisa Bella Donna in particular crafts these incredible analog synth soundscapes that you can really lose yourself in, and I tried to channel that energy as much as possible in the sound design for the upcoming album.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>NC: </b>We sometimes get requests for songs we’re just not as tight on live like “Niceberg,” which is a deceptively tricky song to play due to the way the chord patterns are constantly changing. One time we gave in and played it even though we hadn’t prepared it, and it went about as well as expected.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>13. What do you think of your fans?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>NC:</b> I think most of them are probably lovable nerds like us who just want to hear something different. We know we’re never going to be “cool” or a huge hit among the demographics that writers and promoters care about the most, but we’re just happy that anyone listens to what we’ve done and resonates with it. That’s doubly true for our international fans, whom we would love to connect with and play for at some point in a dream world where we have many thousands of dollars to burn on an international tour.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>14. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">So we were contemplating different names and picking our top few and seven cities dead was in the top few that stood out the most. So the name came before the meaning. As far as meaning it's a play-off of Dantes Inferno where Dante has to atone for his sins before ascending into heaven and there's a city (or terrace) he must pass through for each sin. So there are the 7 cities that all the dead must pass through t9 achieve inner peace and heaven. In modern terms we take this as self-accountability and self-reflection for your shortcomings and doing what you can to be better and honest with yourself will bring balance and peace into your life. So this world can be your heaven or your hell. Which is a common theme in our music.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>2. Why did you want to play this genre?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">We are all avid music fans of a ton of genres and styles but at the end of the day, we all love metal and its many subgenres the most. So naturally we want to be in a metalcore band. Metalcore still has the breakdowns, the riffs, the screaming, the technical sides, but also has breaks of melody and singing and intense feeling varieties... one second it's anger, violence, and throwing some shit around, next second it's calming peaceful and beautiful! So it has a good balance of opposite spectrums! And we are all for it!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">None of us knew each other at all before this band. So it has been a really cool journey of a bunch of strangers becoming lifelong friends and brothers. We actually built most of this band with bandmix.com, which is basically like a dating website that helps you find band members! Ha. However, Jason (bass) came from other bands he played in, and a position was left open from a bass player leaving so we filled it with him. As well as our newest member Tyler (drummer) came to a basement show to watch us and we mentioned it was one of our last shows with our drummer. He talked to us after the show and then set up a try out and the rest is history!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>4. Who or what inspires you to write songs?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">A. As far as bands collectively go we would have to say our biggest inspirations are as I lay dying, in flames, motionless in white, trivium, and all that remains.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">B. As far as real-life things that inspire us to write songs we are definitely focused on personal life experiences and shortcomings, problems we see in the world around us, and life lessons we have come into contact with.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>5. Where was your last gig?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">Our last gig was a local homegrown festival late in the year 2023 which is called farmageddon. The people who run it are some of the coolest most genuine people in our scene here in wi! They built a giant awesome outdoor stage, they have vendors and food trucks there, awesome sound guys, and they basically put this all in the guy who runs it (local legend named Brodi) big ass backyard out in the boonies! And everyone there rocks out together and anyone who attends and is new to it or not is one big metal family! It's a ton of fun. You can camp there for the weekend and party and have a good time! They have big ass fires there as well! If you haven't gone you should! It grows every year!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>6. Where would you like to act?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">We would love to play at Milwaukee metalfest. That's a fest we all went to as kids so naturally as an adult we would love to play it. Especially since it went away for a while and now Jamey Jasta brought it back to life!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>7. Whom would you like to feature with?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">Ooh, that's a tough one cause there are so many artists we all look up to and would love to feature with... ha but I will say this we have a new unreleased song coming up that we wanted to do a more unconventional feature of a violinist and we were totally thinking of Lindsey sterling! That would be dope!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>8. Whom not?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">We're just gonna skip over whom we would not like to feature with. That's not our style! And I think you see all the time on social media people get too caught up in their right to voice their opinions especially negative opinions or how they don't like this band or that vocalist or they don't like certain band members' political opinions etc. We don't want to add to that negativity and would rather focus on positive stuff and what we do like Ha.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>9. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">So our guitarist and clean vocalist Guy will answer this one cause he deals with some anxiety and stage freight and is afraid of any kind of public speaking to the point where he gets pretty shakey ha. So for me what works, and I was pretty bad for the first year or two of playing but it's gotten better over the years, is when that anxiety voice starts going and its getting loud in your head to tune it out with your own voice and who saaa for lack of a better term. Walk around a bit by yourself before you go on it helps calm your nerves, then start reassuring yourself you got this, you practice this, you know what you're doing and it helps me get my confidence back. If you go up there without confidence in yourself it generally doesn't go well and that anxiety voice breaks your confidence. That anxiety you don't choose it chooses you so you don't get rid of it. You learn how to manage yourself and be aware of your own mind and what it's trying to do to you. I walk around and calm myself down before every show and build my confidence up in myself by talking and camping myself up. Over the years after tirelessly doing this that anxiety voice ain't as loud now. As soon as that first ring out comes I'm confident as hell in myself!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>10. What bands have inspired you the most?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">We answered that with 4 ha whoops</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">We actually had a fan offer to buy our used sweaty clothes before. From socks to underwear to shirts etc. Ha, he was a really nice guy and we were like we don't know how much to ask for that or how to go about it. Ha, cause we know with our merch how much we spent on getting it and what we need to sell it for to gain money and to be competing with what other bands are charging, etc. He actually ended up complimented us for not treating him weirdly or badly based on the unusual request.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>12. What do you think of your fans?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">You always got to love and have the utmost respect for your fans. They are the reason you get to do what you love the most! Your art your expression. And you always as a musician have to act and think the way you would want your favorite musicians to. So we try to stay humble and thankful to the infinitive degree! We love and respect everybody that vibes with us for those reasons. We also love our scene here in wi! They are the best fans, bands, venues, videographers, etc alike!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>13. What do you think of our site?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">We love your site and your guy's style and this was a really fun interview to think of and respond to! We enjoyed these questions!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>15. Something add?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">Be on the lookout for new music and for Seven Cities Dead to start up mini touring again and will also be really active in the wi scene in 2024! We also just released a new jam featuring Josh Gilbert formerly of as I Lay Dying and woven war called take this to My Grave! It was tracked by Josh Gilbert featured his vocals and mixed and mastered at Sparrow Sound by Joseph McQueen in California. And that whole experience is one will always remember!</span></div>Screamerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06034179250272473145noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4316176257979096997.post-50824071686669631032024-03-17T12:16:00.000-07:002024-03-17T12:16:42.366-07:00Throne Of Exile - The Endless Sky (2024)<p> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRuaEN898lQBbDuBt4RhX3CP6X5QKU0Ntkz4MrfRH4Dn1u3_s-gk6Z4qxgjAbc3XCq68JRyiYb9eblD8Id1T_Z0Vt_OU9zgE07U5VlTQ0w_rPR3F7FRSZ9lNugKEnrO1xSUhPfSJwL0LymSuhq77qQMAE-zdTc2JT42BbDDTpC5gegYSLUma1uMhjpmLGH/s700/unnamed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="700" data-original-width="700" height="631" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRuaEN898lQBbDuBt4RhX3CP6X5QKU0Ntkz4MrfRH4Dn1u3_s-gk6Z4qxgjAbc3XCq68JRyiYb9eblD8Id1T_Z0Vt_OU9zgE07U5VlTQ0w_rPR3F7FRSZ9lNugKEnrO1xSUhPfSJwL0LymSuhq77qQMAE-zdTc2JT42BbDDTpC5gegYSLUma1uMhjpmLGH/w631-h631/unnamed.jpg" width="631" /></a><br /><br /></p>

Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">Silver Dollar Room is a bar in Toronto Canada which was the location used for The
Blue Oyster Bar in the Police Academy Movies. Early on in the band, we joked about
making the album a Police Academy concept album because we love the movies so
much. That didn’t last long but we thought having a name based around the movie
would be fun. Lisa came up with the idea and we all loved it.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>2. Why did you want to play this genre?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">This is just what we do. We have all lived and breathed alternative rock and grunge
our whole lives. It’s not that we want to, we have to!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">Yes and no! Jamie and Doug have been friends since their teenage years. Jamie had
produced John’s old band in the studio. And Jamie and Lisa are in another band
together. So he brought everyone together!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>4. Each band member's favorite band?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Jamie:</b> I don’t have a favorite really; I love lots of bands. And some of them are
certain eras of bands. I adore early Pearl Jam and Counting Crows, but not at all
keen on the later stuff. The only band whose entire back catalog I love is Alice In
Chains.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>John: </b>I don’t really have an all-time favorite band but my favorite artist is
Prince. He is someone who embodies everything I adore about music... that being
not confined to any rules while creating. A true searcher.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Dan: </b>Soundgarden would be my favorite band, they had such a diverse mix of
sounds with each member contributing. They are also a very challenging band to
get into which makes their discography all the more rewarding.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Lisa: </b>Likewise, I don’t have an ultimate favorite band or genre and as a multi-instrumentalist, I love different music for different reasons. As the singer and
songwriter I primarily am, Tori Amos is a huge influence. There’s a dark beauty to
her style of writing and I love that.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Jamie: </b>Being in a room with other musicians is the most inspiring way to write for
me. I have come up with so much music that way. On the fly and in the moment
can get some great results. Recently I have come up with ideas on my own and
demoed them at home into a basic format. But it’s only the collaboration that
brings it to life.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">John: Anything and everything inspires me to write. I do prefer to write alone
because I’m never one for just going to a specific place to focus on writing. I can be
inspired to write something just by walking to the bus stop or stopping mid-dinner to
write or record a melody on my phone.....just very sporadic really.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Dan:</b> Inspiration for me comes from solitude and entering into a creative mindset.
Anything from watching a film or being in nature can inspire ideas for me.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Lisa:</b> For me, writing is often very personal and can be like a diary entry for me. If I
can capture a moment in time, job done. It doesn’t even matter if I feel the same
about it later, it helps me grow in many ways.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>6. Where was your last gig?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><br /></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Jamie:</b> SDR hasn’t played a gig yet, but my last one was in a castle in Aberdeen!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>John:</b> If I remember correctly my last gig was at the Garage in Glasgow.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Dan:</b> The garage in Glasgow as well I believe!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Lisa:</b> As a working musician, I’m gigging most weeks, but the last real gig of note
would be Moshville Winterfest at Ivory Blacks with my punk band AC Rid.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>7. Where would you like to act?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">Any Scottish band will say the same thing – Barrowlands Ballroom in Glasgow. It’s
a magical place and is the favorite venue in the whole world for Dave Grohl.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>John:</b> Awww man good question..... there are too many amazing venues to choose
from if I'm being honest. I always wanted to play at the venue in Edinburgh. I was at
one of the last ever gigs and it always stuck in my mind that I would never get the
chance to play on that stage.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Dan: </b>I would say King Tuts is a very iconic venue and has a great history, as well as
The Barrowlands.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Lisa: </b>In recent years, it’s been festivals that have given me the most pleasure. Big or
small, bringing your music to a new audience is always satisfying and I hope to do
lots of that with SDR.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>8. Whom would you like to feature with?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">Honestly, anyone who we fit with.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>9. Whom not?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">Honestly, anyone we don’t fit with.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Jamie:</b> If you are well rehearsed and can do it on your own, then you can do it in
front of people. Preparation brings confidence. Nerves for me come from not
feeling fully prepared. The audience will add to the energy and excitement. The
idea of playing in front of thousands of people only excites me, it doesn’t make me
nervous. So my advice is to be prepared and be prepared to feed off the people in
the room.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>John:</b> It's a funny one this... you join a band to share your art with folk but sometimes the nerves make you forget about this. I always just remind myself of
why I’m there and what got me on that stage in the first place. That would be my
advice to anyone, especially for a first gig. I think nerves bring a certain kind of
excitement to the whole process. I’d rather be nervous than not..... that’s for sure.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Dan: </b>I’m with Jamie and John on this one, preparation and practice are key for
performing to your best abilities.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Lisa:</b> It’s difficult at times, as to be on stage requires some level of ego. You’ve got
to believe you’re good at it in some way and that only truly comes with the hard
work that confirms it. Imposter syndrome is something I’ve very much suffered
from in the past, but it’s been a good push too, and I think it’s one of the reasons I
play so many instruments. If I’m challenged, I’m working hard and therefore
getting better. Keep going, keep working, it’s the only way.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>11. What bands have inspired you the most?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Jamie: </b>Guns n Roses is the band that made me a musician. Watching Slash play
inspired me to be a musician. I can literally pinpoint the moment when I declared
– ‘I’m in!’. Outside that, Pearl Jam, Manics, Nirvana, Bush, Placebo, Pumpkins…..
the list goes on and on! I’m inspired by music and musicians!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>John:</b> it wasn’t really a band or artist for me. it started with very early house
music and blues, soul, and Motown. My mum used to run raves and club nights in
the very early 90s. There were always DJs around the house mixing records and just
playing this amazing music. I knew then it was something I wanted to be a part of.
My uncle was a famous blues musician in his own right and I was always inspired
and freaked out by hearing the stories of Robert Johnson selling his soul for his
talent..... I knew then that I wanted to write and be involved in music.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Dan:</b> My brother gave me The Offsprings Americana cassette and after that, it was
game over!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Lisa: </b>For me, it’s always been the musicians I’ve surrounded myself with that have
influenced me most. I joined my first band punk band at 15 and instantly found my
people. I’ve been around them ever since.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>12. the toilets when I am having a piss. Toilet etiquette is simple… Keep your eye on
the prize and get on with the job at hand!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>John: </b>I do remember one really drunk dude asking me to swap shirts with him.....
tbf the shirt was pretty badass so I don’t blame him for asking haha. He must have
asked 3 or 4 times throughout the night which compl</span><span style="font-family: verdana;">etely weirded me out
considering it was caked in sweat from just performing.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Lisa: </b>Yuck. Kinda hate that my experience of this might differ from the guys but
yeah, as a female, I’ve had some pretty weird and gross encounters. Sad to have to
say so in 2024.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>13. My mum thinks we are great,
she is alright!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>John:</b> like Jamie said.... we will let you know “IF” and when we have some!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>14. HotKarlProductions. Evan Gandy served as Director of Photography, while Kyoko Gandy
handled BTS photography and camera operation. It stars Dan Kyle and Alyxandria Nicole in the
narrative section.</span></div><div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"> </span></div><span style="font-family: verdana;"><div style="text-align: justify;">We divided the video shoot into two parts: the band's performance and the narrative segment.
The performance was filmed at the SODO Penthouse room in The Seattle Warehouse, located
in South Seattle. Given the song's serious theme, our aim was to capture the emotional intensity
of the performance, aligning it with the lyrical content and narrative. The industrial ambiance of
the room was complemented by modular Victorian panels, which allowed us to create various
scenes for group and solo shots while concealing the concrete walls and windows. These
panels facilitated simultaneous filming of solo shots with distinct lighting setups, enhancing

Oregon, not far from Portland. Karl, Dan, and Alyxandria spent the day being buried in the
freezing cold woods of the Pacific Northwest. The lyrics tell the story of a man who awakens in a
state of disorientation and horror, finding himself gravely wounded and surrounded by the
remains of his loved ones. Feeling a deep sense of loss and betrayal, he questions the
monstrous nature of the perpetrator and embraces a grim determination to seek retribution.
Rather than recreating the lyrics' story one-for-one, we and Karl decided to give it a more
intimate bend, focusing on a man waking up to find his significant other murdered, aiming to
capture the emotional essence inherent in the lyrics.</div></span></div></div>

people. The pact is breaking down because of one of the members and for this reason, the remaining
people express all their anger, discomfort and frustration, the latter extremely tangible thanks, in addition
to the lyrics, to tight rhythms and heavy breakdowns. The message that wants to be conveyed is to always
be able to keep the promises made, with the awareness that 'one thing does not preclude the other'. The
song ranges from very catchy and clean choruses to violent and emphasis-filled screams, where the
instruments allow themselves to use many technicalities such as polyrhythms, compound tempos and
acoustic facets.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><span style="font-family: verdana;"><div style="text-align: justify;">FFO: Periphery, Erra, Monuments</div></span><div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"> </span></div><span style="font-family: verdana;"><div style="text-align: justify;">LINKS:</div></span><div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"> </span></div><span style="font-family: verdana;"><div style="text-align: justify;">SPOTIFY: <a href="https://open.spotify.com/intl-it/track/3TecIEDTU4ExJxX1jqhOtP">https://open.spotify.com/intl-it/track/3TecIEDTU4ExJxX1jqhOtP</a></div></span></div><div>

We were doing a bunch of lines in my friend Nicky G.'s basement one night and writing music just to dick around. We wound up writing a song called "My Cock....Your Funeral," which wound up pretty much being a glam metal track. Things just snowballed from there. I had a ferret at the time named Sammi, who was named after Sammi Curr from the cult heavy metal horror film "Trick or Treat." Somehow, in our drunken coked-up heads, we decided to call the band FerreTT, both about Sammi the Ferret and Ratt, which is one of my favorite bands. In hindsight, I wish we called it Weasel, but it is what it is at this point!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><br /></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>2. Did you know each other before the band was formed?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">The original lineup? Yes, of course. But things have changed a lot since then. Amongst the new ferrets on the block, Scotty Hart (guitar) is also an original member. Our new lead guitarist, Cool Hand Luke, I've known him for about 14 years now. I only met Juan Savage (drums) and Chorizo Del Rio (bass) earlier this year, but they have fit in really well so far. I like where the new lineup is heading.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>4. Each band member's favorite band?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">Some of my top bands are Type O Negative, KISS, Guns n' Roses, Ratt, Motley Crue, Danzig, Megadeth, Dokken, Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, etc. I can go on and on.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b><br /></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">Chicks, drugs, horror movies, wrestling, other metal, etc.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>6. Where was your last gig?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">Our last gig was an "unofficial" COVID-era outside gig that took place in the Rockaways back in June of 2021.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>7. Where would you like to act?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">I assume you mean where would we like to play next? Anywhere! We haven't played live in almost 3 years. Soon...</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>8. Whom would you like to feature with?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">Anyone awesome and authentic. Obviously, it needs to somewhat fit, but I'd like to think we are pretty versatile. We have played with death metal bands before and we have played with Stryper before! We can generally make work.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>9. Whom not?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">No hipster posers that are offended by their own shadows. Get a life already, and get the fuck out of the metal scene! Go back to whatever junkie cesspool you came from!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">Not really. Alcohol always helps, but it's important to toe the line. I've gone over it once or twice, and it's not what you want.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>11. What bands have inspired you the most?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">A lot of the ones I mentioned above. Ratt, Dokken, L.A. Guns, W.A.S.P., Vain, Pretty Boy Floyd, Alice Cooper, Kix, etc.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">This just happened recently actually. Someone messaged the FerreTT Facebook page asking me to do research on Asperger's Syndrome. It was totally a legit person, not a bot or a troll. Like what do I even say to that?</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>13. What do you think of your fans?</b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">Most of them are pretty badass! I wouldn't mind some more of the loose female variety (and under 35). Let's make that reality with this new record, shall we?</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>14.
