Interviews: The Continual

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Progressive Metalcore band The Continual, from USA. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band name was relatively planned out, The Continual was one of many band names we had talked about, The Continual stuck with us because it represents what we aim to do as a band.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

This genre is what we are all most interested in as a whole, or what we listen to most in our spare time so when the music was written it was purely through what we enjoy doing. This music also provides a release from the tribulations of our lives. Stress, worry, anger, sadness, for the time being, seems to vanish in the moment.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we've all actually been friends for quite some time now. Four out of the five members (Cameron, Doug, Hunter, Dalton) were actually in a previous band together called "In Times Collapse" which is where a lot of us had met previously. Sam we've also known for a long time because he's in a "neighboring" band, called "Shores of Acheron" which Dalton is also a part of.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Doug: Invent, Animate at the moment

Hunter: The Plot in You forever and always <3

Dalton: 21 Pilots

Sam: The Contortionist

Cameron: Structures But we all really like a lot of the same bands to the maximum extent, like we're all very into Northlane, Structures, The Afterimage, 21 Pilots, etc.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I would say that the feelings we experience on a day to day basis inspires us to write what we write.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our previous gig was actually our first gig. We cleaned out our practice shop and set up live sound. Had a great turnout considering the circumstances we were put in. We have more gigs lined up now though and can find the video of our show on our FB page.

7. Where would you like to act?

We would like to travel cross-country and if the band could take us there that would be awesome. We all like to travel to some extent.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We would really like to play with the bands that really inspired our sound like Veil of Maya, Volumes, Periphery, and Northlane.

9. Whom not?

I don't believe there would be any bands we are not open to playing with at some point. As long as everybody is having fun we're down.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

There is always going to be some stage anxiety to battle, we just practice how we are going to look at the show during rehearsal and do our best to replicate it. Hunter," It's all about having fun out there so there's no reason to be scared." Dalton," Talk to people before a show to make yourself comfortable with the people there." Doug, "Two beer minimum/maximum for show performance."

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Veil of Maya, Volumes, Periphery, Northlane, The Contortionist, Structures, Tool. A lot of breakout internet bands pretty much. A lot of bands were coming out with crazy guitar playthroughs around the same time on YouTube and that inspired us.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Someone came up to Hunter after our show and asked him if he was hogging haha.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Very supportive, just glad someone noticed us.

14. What do you think of our site?

Very cool, glad to see a website that keeps up to date with all new metal!

15. Something to add?

Just be on the lookout for upcoming shows and our album expected to be released early 2017! In the end, we are doing this because we love our music and we are just glad someone noticed. Thanks for interviewing us, shoutout to breathingthecore.
