Interviews: Enormodome

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Alternative Rock band Enormodome, from USA. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We try not to take ourselves too seriously, and the band name came from watching 'This is Spinal Tap'. We were joking about that movie one day, and Enormodome came up in conversation (it is a line in the film where the more successful band they run into in the hotel lobby is about to play a sold out show at “the Enormodome, or whatever it’s called” whilst Spinal Tap’s gig for that night has been cancelled for lack of ticket sales).  We both joked that this would be a great band name, and it stuck.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

It is truly the way it came out of us.  We started this project as a way to blow off steam from our other projects at the time. We really just started playing riffs really loud and hard, then we came up with melodies over them. Before we knew it, there were a small batch of songs.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes.  We were in different projects that knew each other very well.  We would all hang out together. The two of us would often get coffee together, hang in Jeff’s studio, etc.  We knew each other for years before ever playing music together.
4. Each band member favourite band?

Mikey: too many, but some tops are, Death Cab for Cutie, Jimmy Eat World, MUSE.

Jeff: I have a few all time fav’s;
-Hendrix
-SRV
-Metallica
-Soundgarden
-Our Lady Peace

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Inspiration comes from a wide range of experiences. Relationships, politics and social issues tend to be a strong recurring themes in our songs.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our album release show in our home town. (Flagstaff, AZ) We had a Blast, and it was a Halloween show, so everyone was dressed up in costumes. It was quite surreal.

7. Where would you like to act?

(Play?) We have a lot of fun and play hard wherever we are.  But we tend to have the most fun in the midwest US and the South.  We do have big plans to come to Europe ASAP!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We would love to play with some of our heros like, The Foo Fighters, MUSE, Jimmy Eat World, Bush, Soundgarden, just to name a few.

9. Whom not?

Anyone who plays at seated dinner theatres... we tend to be very loud, and it always tends to ruin people’s supper!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Stage fright can be overcome easily.  It comes from having confidence in your band and your songs. Practice, practice practice, after that, it becomes all about performing and playing for the people who are there to see you.  No one cares if you are scared, now go play some rock ‘n roll!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The Foo Fighters, MUSE, Jimmy Eat World, Switchfoot, Pearl Jam, Rage Against the MAchine, Audioslave, Soundgarden, Metallica...   We grew up on 90s grunge, and early 2000s rock.  We still love those bands and those songs.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To kiss their wife...

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are the coolest people on the planet! It means the world to us that our music matters to someone.  We need to stick together through music.  Politics and religion will try and pull us apart but they can never stop people coming together around music.  It transcends all, and we can stand, together… sweaty, at a rock concert.

14. What do you think of our site?

We really dig it.  It has a lot of heavy bands, mixed in with some great alternative bands.  Great way to discover and follow some great new stuff!

15. Something to add?

We are excited to be putting out this new record and supporting it into next year.  We are excited to eventually tour Europe. It seems there is a place for us there, and the music community is so alive.
