Interviews: Fankaz

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Hardcore/Hardcore Punk band Frankaz, from Italy. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

RICKY: The name was born at high school where i met Mora and Pole. It’s a word in dialect that means “do nothing”. At that time it was the best word for us because we were idiots. So it came out just like that.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

RICKY: We started play punk because it was natural, simple and we loved punk. After one year we weren’t happy of our music and we decided to work better and more on our songs, in particularly after saw one of our favourite band, Belvedere. They played the music that we wanted to play.

ELIO: This genre is a part of me, it gives me a lot of energy!

MORA: Like Ricky has said, after saw Belvedere on stage i said “ok, from tomorrow, i want like this”.

POLE: Because i like it and it’s the best genre for me.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

RICKY: Me, Pole and Mora were classmates. Elio joined to the band in 2009. We play together since 2003.

4. Each band member favourite band?

RICKY: Belvedere, Jet Market, Counterparts, Lower than Atlantis, A Wilhelm Scream, Thrice and more…

ELIO: It’s really hard mention only one!!! in any case my favourite are: Counterparts, Architects, Misery Signals, Alexisonfire, Thrice, etc...

MORA: A Wilhelm Scream, Belvedere, Comeback Kid, etc…

POLE: Mute, This is a standoff, Belvedere, Architets, Offspring, Periphery, Bring me the horizon, A Day To Remember, etc…

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

RICKY: I think, the music that i listen in particular moments, my mood and the situations that i live during my days.

ELIO: Everything that i listen, but the truth is that everything flows in a very natural way, without forcing it or without the paranoia to emulate other bands. Infact our music is a mix of a lot of sub-genres.

6. Where was your last gig?

RICKY: Our last gig, was at Filò with our brothers DAMN CITY from Bolo-town.

7. Where would you like to act?

RICKY: We hope to tour in Japan maybe this year and across the Europe..It would be awesome.

ELIO: I would like to come back in Slovakia and Czech Rep. They know how to appreciate our music and in these countries knows how to support the hardcore scene.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

RICKY: For me it would and honour share the stage with Alex from Thousand Oaks and Steve from Belvedere.

ELIO: Counterparts would be a dream, A Wilhelm Scream, Belvedere and with all the band that wanna share the stage with us.

9. Whom not?

RICKY: Sincerely i don’t know. I think that if you are on stage and you are in a good mood; you don’t give a shit about bad influence or people that they don’t care about you and you’re music. So stay positive and enjoy the moment.

ELIO: If there are alcohol, food and a place to stay during the night, i wouldn’t have problems to play with anyone. (ahah)

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

RICKY: Well like i told you before we were idiots so we are always happy to show us. I admit it we are exhibitionists.

One tip is this: don’t think too much during your live set, play your music and have fun because if you are too focused on what you’re playing the people will notice and will understand that you are too serious and they won’t appreciate your live.

ELIO: Well, at the beginning when i was approaching my first live, but i think that everyone suffer a minimum of “scagazza” at the beginning.

RICKY: Belvedere

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

RICKY: Sincerely i don’t remember nothing of so weird...

ELIO: Nothing of too strange, if i remember correctly.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Ricky: They’ve always been amazing, good guys with great attitude and positive mind.

ELIO: We need a lot of support from our fans all over the world if we want to play our music everywhere and in every country possible.

14. What do you think of our site?

RICKY: I really love your site and your webzine because you guys talked about my favourite genres.

ELIO: For sure, a great webzine for all the underground bands!!
