1.Calling of the Edge:
It's the first song of the E.P and maybe one of the most complete/mature song we ever wrote. We recorded it in one night in our home studio after having a very intersting discussion at dinner about why people want sometimes to cross their own limits and climb the Everest for exemple or go where no one else has gone before. So we wanted to dig this subject and speak about stretching the limits, exploring the unknow, and the sensation people feel at this moment : adrenaline, feeling alive...
We made a music video for this song that illustrate what it means, with videos of spatial conquest, explorer, sportsmen, mountainers etc...
The song starts with an extract of the "We choose to go to the moon" speech, delivered by U.S. President John F. Kennedy to a large crowd gathered at Rice Stadium in Houston, Texas on September 12, 1962. It was one of Kennedy's earlier speeches meant to persuade the American people to endorse the Apollo program, the national effort to land a man on the Moon.
We found it was a perfect introduction for this song, that illustrate all the values of conquest and self-surpassing we wanted to speak about.
We also add "Apollo 11" transmission, between Neil Armstrong and Houston during the moon landing mission on July 20, 1969, like the famous 'That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind".
Then the song ends with a loop of Kennedy's speech, "not because they are easy but because they are hard" because it's always when it's hard and things seems impossible that human kind manage to do incredible things.
In this song we wanted to speak about the memory of an ex girlfriend that can still haunt you as a ghost, following you everywhere and whispering you something... We used synthe FX to create a strange sound, like something floating around in the air, a bit scary...
3. Out of Time:
This song speak about all this small, simple an furtive moments of hapiness and relaxation. All the lyrics were written while drinking a coffee outside a Startbuck, watching the crowd passing and having a restful break at a moment I was exhausted because my child was born few month ago...
The song start also with a deep ambient FX loop, a stabbing "eyes of the tiger" guitar note, and some far AvA style guitar notes with reverb, then a louder chorus and for the first time we tryed at the end to repeat this chorus to an upper tone, like we can ear in a lot of songs...we've never done this before.
This song is about HOPE, This precious thing that help us all in our everyday's fight and give us the power of doing everything. "Whispers and echos, dreams are melodies you know, listen to this sound, Hope is Universal".
It's a positive message that encourage everyone to listen to their dreams and let the hope we have deep inside, guide us to reach our goals.
The lyrics of each songs are available on our Bandcamp page, if you want more...
See you soon for the second part of the EP with "The Experiment - Chapter 2", before going back to our pop-punk roots with our third album.
