News: EX EYE (Colin Stetson, members of Liturgy, Secret Chiefs 3) PREMIERE “XENOLITH; THE ANVIL”

EX EYE, the newest instrumental outfit helmed by experimental saxophonist Colin Stetson, has released a second single off their debut album along with an accompanying video. “Xenolith; The Anvil” is a packed with the barreling crescendos and riveting complexities that have quickly become the quartet’s calling card.  In the video, EX EYE and filmmaker Derrick Belcham explore hidden realities and metaphorical representations of the titular subject of this first song on their eponymous debut album.   Stream the video today via NPR

Commandeered by Stetson on alto and bass saxophones, EX EYE’s unflappable lineup is rounded out by Greg Fox (Liturgy) on drums, Shahzad Ismaily (Secret Chiefs 3, Ceramic Dog) on synths and Toby Summerfield on guitar. Devoted to creating labyrinthian and emotive music, EX EYE perpetually defy both genre and expectation.

Recorded live at Ismaily's Figure 8 Studios in Brooklyn, NY (Blonde Redhead, Damien Rice, Okkervil River, Son Lux, Pussy Riot), EX EYE’s forthcoming debut flaunts a band that is far beyond the sum of its parts. With each player lending both their own technical prowess and personal idiosyncrasies, each song is a transcendent journey unlike anything that has come before.
