Interviews: Charlie´s Stripe

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock/Pop Punk band Charlie´s Stripe, from Italy. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned or came out just like that?

Our names cames from the comic strips "Peanuts".We were looking for a name with a cool sound and Della is fan of Peanuts, so we choosed Charlie's Stripe, inspired from the zig-zag line upon Charlie Brown’s t-shirt.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We started playing covers by The Fratellis, The Jet, Arctic Monkeys etc. At the same time we were writing our first songs. So we created a sort of indie rock strongly influenced by the punk of the late 70s.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Della and Nico were schoolmates and the band started from them. Ciri was well known in the local scene 'cause he played with some other bands, and we known about Carlo talking with a friend of us one night at the disco. So we wrote his name in order not to forget it and the day after the party we wrote him on Facebook.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Della: I don't really have a Favourite Band, my turntables now plays a lot of The Strokes, The Peawees and Radio Days, but I love also legend band like The Who, The Jam and Pink Floyd.

Nico: I like Black Keys, The Beatles but also something harder like Bring Me The Orizon.

Carlo: I grow up with Flea's bass lines but RHCP don't figure in my top favourite artists anymore. My top three is probably The Hives, Royal Blood and Salmo (I really like italian's hip-hop scene).

Ciri: I really like Asking Alexandra, Avenged Sevenfold, while she sleep, motionless in white and Attila.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Usually is Della WHO write our songs and they came from a girl or the rage of the moment or  parties and nightlife.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last Gig was at Meraviglia Festival, the highest music Festival in Italy, at 1600mt in Valsesia, near to the Monte Rosa in the Alps.

7. Where would you like to act?

We would like to tour outside Italy, especially in Spain, Japan and U.S.A.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Mmm, good question, Probably would be a dream to perform with Pelle Almqvist from The Hives

9. Whom not?

Pitbull, 'cause is always full of featuring and we don't wanna waste his time.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for begginers on how to beat that?

Nobody of us suffer of stage frightening but our first gig was also the first for Della, 'cause he never had a band before, so he was a little bit worried. But he was also one of the festival planner where we was playing. So he didn't had too much time to being scared. An advice that we can give is: just go on the stage, without thinking to much, feel the sensations, feel the energy that the crowd gives to you and rock!

11. What bands have you inspired the most?

At the beginning Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chief, The Hives and all the indie scene of ‘00s but than we started to assimilate all the punk world of the late 70s and early 80s with bands like The Clash, The Jam and also some beat and mod bands like The Kinks or The Lambrettas hardly influenced our music.

12. What´s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Is not weird but we have a very special fan that bought all that we have, and even more copies of the same item. Thanks a lot Stefano!

13. What do you think about your fans?

We love them! Sometimes someone write us to tell how much he likes our music and that's very rewarding. We've seen that there are also somebody that listen us outside our country and it's fantastic thinking your music is reaching the other side of the world. For example we are now releasing our new Single "Jay" on cassette with the What's For Breakfast? Records in the States.

14. What do you think of our site?

You make such a great job guys, really! Good website, nice layout, great attitude! Thanks guys, a website like yours is what the bands like us really need, above all in Italy.
