News: Lume share new single "Unending" from 'Wrung Out'!

Chicago-by-way-of-Detroit trio, Lume, are sharing their new track, “Unending”, and the accompanying visual. The track is the second offering from their label debut Wrung Out - available for pre-order now ahead of it’s April 20th release on Equal Vision Records / Graphic Nature. The first single “Keep Me Under” premiered earlier this month with Revolver Magazine.

When the band set out to write Wrung Out, they initially were inspired by the weight of societal pressures, but after the consecutive deaths of three friends, due to drug abuse and suicide, the writing process became a means of memoriam, catharsis and a sounding board for unanswered questions. While most of the songs on the record revolve around loss in some way, shape or form, "Unending" is one of the only songs on the record that's specifically written from the point of view of one of the close friends that passed away.

Dan Butler (vocals/guitar) on "Unending":

“We lost three good friends in really quick succession to suicide and drug overdose in the fall of 2016. Most of the songs on "Wrung Out" deal with how we felt about it and coped with it, but "Unending" specifically is written more from their perspective. The idea of mentally/physically not being able to feel anything, hear what anyone has to say, or see the worth of your own life (or other's presence in your own life) and feeling guilty that those incapabilities have led to not being able to be there for the people you care about.”

In 2014, the members of Lume - Daniel Butler (Vocals/Guitar), Dylan Hulett (Bass), and Austin Hulett (Drums) - started the band with the purpose of emerging themselves in a diverse, vibrant musical scene that would help them reach a new level as a band. After several sold-out, limited run releases and a prolific touring schedule that found them hitting almost every state, the band entered the writing process for their upcoming full-length, Wrung Out, in late 2016 with the goal of recording what could become a pivotal release in their career. The band turned to Mike Watts (Glassjaw, Dilinger Escape Plan, O’Brother) to produce the record and help guide them as they expanded their sound. They also enlisted Johnny Dang (of o’Brother) and Spencer Ussery (of Big Jesus) to collaborate on several tracks; learning valuable lessons about crafting a song from both in the process. The result is a diverse collection of ethereal, heavy rock songs that owe as much to the bands they grew up on - such as Soundgarden and Radiohead - as they do to contemporary rock bands like Citizen, Chelsea Wolfe or Nothing. Wrung Out is undoubtedly Lume’s most ambitious record to date and having signed to Equal Vision Records / Graphic Nature, it will surely see them rise to new heights in 2018.
