Interviews: ETTERNA

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Progressive Metal band ETTERNA, from Slovakia. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Tomas: No it wasn’t created before the formation of the band. Once we were brainstorming and discussing potential names and Etterna was one of them. After a while it was chosen by all of us. The basis of it comes from a latin word „aeternum“ (eternity).

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Ady: When we started writing songs individually we noticed that each member created music based on different influences but later on when everyone contributed with its own preferences we chose this genre which everybody likes playing.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Tomas: Me and Feral are good friends from our previous band and trough Etterna’s former guitarist we got to know Ady. As it happened, Ady knew Adam and Peter from his previous band so it’s like a half of members of 2 disbanded groups created a new one.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Tomas: Kiss

Feral: Megadeth

Adam: Metallica

Ady: Periphery

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Ady: When I write songs, mostly I’m being influenced by my mental and emotional state at that time. It’s something unplanned and unexpected so it comes out naturally. That’s why other members like it (haha)

6. Where was your last gig?

Feral: Most lately we played in Poprad (Slovakia). It was a part of a contest of Slovak bands of all genres. Judges gave us a GO so it’s possible we may play in finale but we’re still waiting for final results.

7. Where would you like to act?

Adam: We are definitely excited about the idea to play at foreign metal fests or similar concerts

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Tomas: We’d play gladly with every great metal band, but they must be friendly! (haha)

9. Whom not?

Tomas: Well, it wouldn’t make any sense to play with anybody with totally different music style, right?

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Feral: As I recall no one from us had big problems to play live. We support each other before gigs and stress the importance of “trust yourself” and “be yourself”. That’s what we’d recommend other bands to have a good time on stage and with fans.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Adam: I was influenced by Metallica and Dream Theater the most. Then I noticed that Feral has many trash t-shirts in possession as well.

Ady: In last years I really like metal core progressive music, particularly Periphery and Architects. Tomas, however, thinks that power metal is still hot so he listens to Firewind and similar bands.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Ady: Once I was asked by a fan if I could sign the left side of his butt. I couldn’t resist of course! (haha)

13. What do you think of your fans?

Feral: That they’ve got a fucking great style! (haha)

14. What do you think of our site?

Adam: We like every web site which supports metal music so keep posting metal and stay cool!
