Interviews: Jupiter Hollow

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Progressive Metal band Jupiter Hollow, from Canada. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that? 

We honestly can’t remember the truth of it, only that it exists... Grant’s tattoo, being a combination of the symbols for Jupiter and Saturn definitely inspired the name, but if either of us were to tell how it truly came to fruition, we’d be lying! It’s a mystery.  

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

 We don’t like to view music in genres anymore, I like to incorporate the many styles I enjoy and influences that I have and always be moving and changing as a musician, progressing... 

It gets boring when you have limits like genre. I believe death metal and trip hop belong on the same record.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? 

Briefly, we met playing in other bands on the same bill, myself Kenny in Colony and Grant in Final Sight. Final Sight has since disbanded and Grant is now a part of Colony which is going strong and currently tracking a new record.  

4. Each band member favourite band? 

This question is a sin, I like so many bands. Our favourites are the ones that push the boundaries and have interesting and selfless live shows... Where it’s not about being a front man and the center of attention, and more about being yourselves and never doing what someone else tells you to do... Tool, Karnivool, TesseracT, The Contortionist, BTBAM and Leprous to name a few...  

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

Being alive, as far as we're concerned, we've never not been writing music, it's what fulfills us.

6. Where was your last gig? 

We recently did a clinic like show at Grant’s old high school, before that, an awesome Colony show in Toronto. We're just starting to some shows now since we've been so busy recording and doing everything else that goes into a release.

7. Where would you like to act? 

I want to act in a Fantastic Beasts movie because I’m a wizard and nobody knows it yet.  - Kenny

8. Whom would you like to feature with? 

Puscifer 

9. Whom not? 

I’ll put my musical fingerprint on anything... Nowhere wouldn’t I pop in if I had the chance 

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that? 

I’ve never, although I like my space on stage, and I prefer to not have the lights on me. I get bored watching band members in full view and I prefer to be overwhelmed by a growing production that mystifies the band members. The best way to beat stage fright is by just playing more shows. The more you perform the better you get.  The only way to overcome stage fright is to be confident in what you’re doing... If you don’t have a desire to perform at your core then I’m afraid it may be something you’ll never get over.

11. What bands have inspired you the most? 

This is always changing... I think in terms of our debut AHDOMN... A lot of TesseracT and Leprous was influencing us, but not exclusively  

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for? 

Been asked to sign boobies... I was 16... Apparently 2015 is 1985 in Muskoka...  - Kenny

13. What do you think of your fans? 

They're great! We have a great community of fans who all share the same love of progressive metal!
