Interviews: CENTAURO

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Trash Metal  band CENTAURO from Mexico. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?   

The name comes from Mexican History and it makes reference to Revolutionary General Pancho Villa AKA The Centaur Of The North. We wanted not to be the typical Mexican band with a name in English. Most Mexican bands have names in English and sometimes they have gramar mistakes. For us a name in English didn’t have any meaning, we wanted to reflect something about our History and not something foreign.     

2.Why did you want to play this genre?   

Before Centauro I had a Raw Black Metal studio project along with our first singer/bassist Erick Monzón.When we decided to make a live lineup we moved to a Thrash Metal oriented direction and Centauro was born. The reasons we chose to play Thrash Metal were that it’s a very energetic style, and we really enjoy to play it as well as listening to it live.     

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?  

We knew each other from school and from local gigs, but it wasn’t until we started to rehearse together when we really got to meet each other.     

4. Each band member favourite band?   

Mario Rivera (Drums) - System of a Down  

Hecris Estrada (Bass) - Between The Buried and Me  

Ivan García (Vocals & Guitar) - Death  

Roberto Lizarraga (Guitar) - Iron Maiden     

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?   

Sometimes we get inspired by another song, sometimes by daily life event, and sometimes lots of coffee. When we have a burst of creativity and inspiration we try to take advantage of it no matter what inspired it, because it doesn’t happen very often.     

6. Where was your last gig?   

Here in our hometown Culiacán, Sinaloa in show with a Death tribute band which features our Singer/guitarist Ivan García and our bassist Hecris Estrada.   

7. Where would you like to act?   

Wacken Open Air or any festival or show with our favorite bands and our friends.     

8. Whom would you like to feature with?   

Any of our favorite bands and Katy Perry LOL

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?   

I think all of us have had stage fright to some extent, sometimes more, sometimes less, but in the end we manage to control it when we are ready to take the stage, ‘cause we realice that we are more than capable to give a good show and to enjoy every second with the crowd.     

11. What bands have inspired you the most?   

Vektor, Kreator, Sodom, Intruder, Watain, Death, Warbringer, Forbidden just to name a few.     

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?   

After one show a girl asked us to give her one our t-shirts, which were all wet by sweat and smelled pretty bad after a very energetic show.     

13. What do you think of your fans?   

We see them as part of our family. We are a brotherhood that is growing with time and becoming stronger and more loyal. They have showed us lots of love and support and we can it is mutual, and we show our appreciation to them by doing what we do: Keep making quality so the Centauro family can love it.     

14. What do you think of our site?  

It’s very comprehensive site full of information for those who love Metal & Core genres. We are glad to know sites like this exists, because someone who visits it can get to know new bands as well as new releases of these genres. Congratulations to the team of your site!! Well done!!
